In the mitten state, we call them targets. In southern Ohio we call them groundhogs. Our more refined northern cousins call them Wood Chucks. At any rate down here in the hills we don't curl no beaver. If you fool with either one they will lay teeth to you that you won't forget.
Everything else is becoming an Olympic sport....
Well, I KNOW beaver and that ain't no beaver. And that's all I'm gonna say about that!I am pretty sure I don't want to see how many points I would get for any of the responses that came to mind. Maybe CAJE will.
I STILL can't come to grips with the fact that Curling is actually an Olympic sport! Should be classified with Darts, Bocci, Shuffleboard, etc.
......snip.....- like Air Force boot camp.![]()
love them curly beavers but I don't see as many as I used too
Is the Air Force boot camp still as rigorous as it used to be? I've heard that they now require them to bunk two to a room at the Four Seasons, pushing the Gov to reserve suites for them.
And the breakfast menu has been limited to steak and eggs, but the mimosas are only available every other day.
How can they subject the recruits to these inconveniences?????
Several years ago I was surprised to hear that Curling was supposedly invented by the Scots. Some of the other "sports" credited to the Scots, are golf and the Highland Games where one throws trees (caber toss), hammers, carry rocks for distance and other things. Just goes to show you what large quantities of alcoholic beverages will prompt you to do to relieve boredom.
USAF boot camp taught me valuable life lessons.
I can still make an origami swan dinner napkin and iron the pleats in a full cummerbund.
