Any standard pressure 9mm load will work fine. JHP probably preferred but FMJ will work fine too.

There is no "best." They all work almost equally well to subdue a human sized target at SD ranges.
9mm FMJ, 9mm HP, etc. will work fine if you double tap someone in the A zone.
Stopped is stopped, no matter which kind of bullet you use.
Don't fall for the hype and marketing. With any caliber 9mm and above, shot placement of ANY standard pressure load will do a fine job.
Humans are soft targets.
Extreme defender
Based on size of potential wound cavity and lack of having to worry about unreliable expansion, the only rounds I carry in 9mm are Underwood ammo 9mm 90gr +p extreme defender. They are solid copper bullets that use fluting to cause outward hydraulic pressure. If you're curious about its gel block performance against other rounds, Google "2016/2017 joint agency ballistics test". The first result is a pdf file with the results of a test with 9mm, 357sig, .40s&w, 10mm, .45acp, and 5.7×28. Its an interesting read if you like looking at ballistics data. The Underwood comes out on top in every caliber that it's available in. Does best in .357sig IIRC

Er, no. That is simply not true.
Illiteracy is the problem with today's criminals. As good reading and comprehension skills are not longer taught in schools modern criminals do not read gun forums and learn that they are suppose to immediately stop their attack after being shot by one bullet.

The main problem I see regularly on this forum is members confusing being lethal with stopping power. It may be of no small comfort to your wife, family and loved ones if your attacker dies 30 minutes after you do.

...of those in action and they look pretty amazing. The instructor I just took CC training from seemed to like them. I'm not quite ready to embrace them yet. I wonder about over-penetration and real world experience. But they ARE interesting.

I doubt many perps are tough enough or have an abundance of blood that will allow them to live 30 minutes with 6 holes in their heart from a triple tap of FMJ ammo from a .32 or .380 ACP or 9mm.
