Best all around S&W

Model 60-15. 3" stainless with adjustable sights. Can handle 357 and 38. Easily concealable and plenty of power for home defense. Rust rsistant in the outdoors. Fits a wide variety of hand sizes with appropriate grips. Highly accurate (at least mine is), and if your run out of ammo it's heavy enough to use as a club!

I have a 4" 629 I use as a woods gun.
Lately, this one stays close.

I cant make up my mind, but narrowed it down to these two. A .44 special 24-3 and the lew horton 66-3.

Toss up between a blued .44 Magnum with the 6-1/2" barrel or a blued "N" Frame .357 Magnum with a 5" barrel or a blued Model 19-3 with a 3" barrel and fixed sights.

All would have their place and purpose. The .44 Magnum would be the last to go if the others had to for some reason.

For all around general handgun uses I would pick a 4" M66 or M19. Light and portable enough to conceal and tote all day as well as accurate and easy to shoot well. The .357 mag is a very versatile cartridge and will do for hunting and protection as well as for target shooting and plinking. If one reloads, it is an easy cartridge to work with and it's cheap to shoot. Brass and bullets for .38/.357 are available everywhere...at least, they used to be before the recent insanity.

like asking which one of your children do you love most ?

but if i had to only have 1 for the rest of my life ? 629 4 inch.

Another vote for the M19 4" of course the M66 would do as well.

Three whole pages of posts and NOBODY has mentioned a three inch Model 13!?!?

It is my personal favorite. Three inch barrel, non shrouded ejector, concealable round butt and fixed sights. All business and no frills.

N-Frame .357 with a 4 or 6" barrel-the latter if holster carry is not an issue.

I got to go with the model 19 4" .357, however my second best and of course their is bias and if I'm not going up against big bears is a model 547 4" 9mm. 3" ers are good but I like that extra inch in a all-around revolver. If someone has a picture of a 547 4 incher can they post it so I can drool!

I can't decide between a 19 or 66 in 4"?? I'll say 4" 66 if forced to chose.
