BEST Concealed Carry Revolver

629-5

Options are available to address that. Tyler T-grips (if you like them) work fine with the Shooting Ace stocks.

Sometimes I carry this 629-5...not often.

I have never seen a 629-5 with fixed site. Any info on it?

Being a .44 spl fan, I carry a Charter .44 with Crimson Trace grips.

I wish S&W made a light/small .44 though.

S&W Carry Revolver

For the comforting (and comfortable) morning walk and most "normal" places I go, I carry a 351PD in .22 WMR in a pocket holster. I also have extra ammo, a large Cold Steel folder and a Cold Steel sword cane or golf club. Depends on my level of paranoia that day.

I also carry a 3 " ported 629 in a laptop pack for more serious travels.

638 sweet and pocket carries well. Unfortunately arthritic hands could not easily pull back the semi-shrouded hammer so I traded it for a 637. Much happier with this one. Added Crimson Trace grips to aid old eyes in getting on target.

I like the M638 because if I need or want single action capability I have it.

The 642 is my go to carry gun. Years ago I liked the 65 (3 inch), but it's an anchor to carry. In today's market. there are a number of fine lightweight revolvers and 9mm semi autos. But the 642 is what makes me comfortable when I go out.

My favorite carry gun is a 3" 686 plus. It is loaded with a light .357 magnum handload using Speer 135gr short barrel bullets at 1040 fps. Seven rounds and is very controllable at just over .38+P levels. A lot of people believe that the 686 is too big for carry but I find it just perfect and I am a relatively small dude at 5' 10" and 140lbs.

I carry an S&W 340 M&P in a pocket (mostly) or ankle holster. It can handle .357 Magnum rounds but those are tough my hand - the 340 takes anything less of course - JHP's in .38 or .38+P.
They should do the trick since it's all for up close and personal work anyway. I have had it jam one time on the range when I used cheap Blazer ammo. The bullet stuck out of the case ever so slightly. Now when I buy ammo I open the box and examine
a cartridge and look to see that all rims are level and are the same height.

Carry

For a EDC pocket gun, mine for the last 15 years has been a model 332 32 mag, no recoil, 6 shots and loaded with magsafe ammo. My belt gun has been a Cyl and Slide custom 696, until a few months ago when I found my "grail gun" and I now carry it, a Ruger ASP speed six 44 spc 2 1/2"

My favorite carry guns are Sp101, AIWB or LCR357 AIWB and a S&W442 in the pocket. Always Two of these,Three.

b!

The 340 and 340PD seemed like they would be brutal with 357 mags so for the money, I chose the 442 Pro Moon Clip. Great for pocket carry and about 1/2 the price of the 340 duo. If money is no object, I'd go the 340 route.

The 340 is perfect. It carries like it's not there and has the punch to stop the fight. Believe me, if you have to use it in self defense, you won't see the muzzle flash, hear the report or even feel the recoil. It's just not a factor when a life is at stake. You won't need a target gun in a typical civilian street situation.

You can't go wrong with a j frame in your pocket. I have a 625 with a 3 inch barrel that I also carry when I feel like I need a little more.

Humm... S&W I do carry is 442 with action work by Clarks. Very small, light and shoots well. I'd like to carry my 681-4 PC but it's too rare and it is a little heavy. Same with Colt DSII. Nice compact 6 shot but it's becoming to valuable as a collectors piece now. I'm very satisfied with the 442 though.

In the warm weather with cargo shorts, I carry the S&W 642-2 in an Active Pro Gear pocket holster. Light weight with Federal Hydra-Shok low recoil hollow points. After practice, it will fly out of the pocket with the holster holding fast inside the pocket. Love this J frame.

What grain was the blazer ammo? Was it also +P?

Hmmm....Best snubbie of all time?

There are a lot of good snubbies out there. My favorite Smith & Wesson is a Model 640 Pro. Next in line would be the 396NG, which is a .44 Spl snubbie. Both of those have been Mag-na-ported. However, I think the best snubbies came from Colt - their last effort was the Magnum Carry, which was the last model of their Detective Special series, with an updated lockwork that was a combination Lawman MkV and Detective Special. It was/is perfect right out of the box. I wish Colt would go back into production with that model, because I'd buy several more.
