Read somewhere where BG 2 is the Handgun the Year. Given the number of complaints having to do with sight problems ( I have personally had this issue with my BG 2). This seems to be a manufacturing error. Does Smith and Wesson deserve this award?

In my opinion, no - but problems fixed it is an neat micro pistol with excellent outer design and, in my case, no FTFs, etc., in over 500 rounds. The BG 2.0 likes to be clean and I keep it that way after every range session.

Complaints have ranged from sights being off (low and to the left), the recoil spring, and very tough to load magazines. Nevertheless, it is now in my EDC rotation.

They're going to "give" it to someone/something. You seen anything else lately that "deserves" it more?

I've got a 2.0 and while I haven't had any real problems with it it seems pretty neat to me. Yes, it/I shoots low left, but the sights seem right to me, and a laser cartridge seems to confirm that. I got rid of a Ruger LCP Max that shot low, left also. Those two things tell me it's probably me, more than the gun. I'm working on that, and am seeing progress. Yes, the magazines are hard to load, and the slide is/was hard to rack, but I've had those problems with every M&P pistol (and Glock) I've ever owned. (I really like the EZ's for that reason.) I used to laugh at the idea of a mag loader. Then I bought a Glock. Now I keep an Uplula in my range bag, in my desk drawer...you get the idea.

On the other hand, it IS a really neat, very small, very light, releatively high capacity 380 pistol that is very reliable, and has a better than average trigger, right out of the box. That doesn't seem to be all bad either.

That you for your response. No I have not. I am not in the business of gun reviews and did not mean to imply the BG 2 is a bad gun. Outside the sight issue I think it is a very good gun and have no regrets I brought one.

My point is that a new gun out of the box should not come with a known, visible issue, especially one that is non-mechanical. Should the front and rear sights not be centered to the slide along line of sight after adjustment to point of aim, that suggests a manufacturing problem that needs to be addressed. In my opinion, if the two sights cannot be properly aligned by adjustment in relation to the slide, the company should replace for a new one.

What brand laser cartridge do you have? I want one. Went on Amazon. Many reviewers said the 380 laser they bought would not fit their smaller 380s.

Awards like this are marketing and are bought and paid for, they don't mean anything.

Buy what you shoot the best, if that's a BG, go for it.
