What about a Rossi .44 special?
I have one on loan from a cousin - should I make an offer?

I think I've got your gun's cousin. Born in 1913. It did a little time in His Majesty's service.
Different cylinder and barrel, and now its a .45 Colt.

It don't beller, don't kick, light to pack, and still packs a purty good punch.

Iggy,
Check the bottom of your barrel. If the SN there is the same as the gun, it was shortened, not replaced. The Mod for the cylinder is pretty simple too - lengthen the chambers and recess or shave down the back of the cylinder so that 45 Colt will fit between the cylinder and frame.
My snubby: Kinda heavy and hard to conceal...
HOWEVER, just the sight of it will generally make perp turn & run.
