Bigmtnman's Elk Stags

"I would have given you an A, but you have too many comma splices" .... B+
This was written by my Miss Hardy on my important 12th grade English essay. "Run on sentences" had knocked me out of getting an A !
Ever since then she has whispered in my ear when I write anything. "That is a run on sentence Ken". "That comma should be a period" ! "Now go back and fix it". Yes ma'm..Thank you :)..... since 1964.

OOPS... I was reading another thread and accidentally put a reply to IT here.

SENIOR MOMENT !

Well....as long as I am here and BUSTED :) ...... Thanks to all of you for the nice comments on my grip making efforts. It's very nice to be appreciated.

Ken, I will add here that I would find it most interesting to read a new thread detailing how you make your grips...Beginning with how you select and source the materials, and how you decide which would fit and look best on which make and frame size of gun would be very instructive...I'd like to see your first efforts if pictures still exist, as well as detailed pics and text of the entire process...Such a thread may already exist, and if so, a link to it would be appreciated...

As you well know I unashamedly haunt the For Sale forums trying to snag what I can of your creations, whether of not I have a gun to fit them...:o...Ben

Found a nice knife at the local gun show today, with elk stag scales to match my M27...

Now they just need some matching custom leather...

Sweet! I just scored my latest set of Ken's stocks. I got them mainly for my newly acquired 586-3 so I can retire the combats that came on it to a safe place. I'll post pics when I get them.

I recently got my first set of Kens grips. I had in mind a 4 inch M57 but thats a long story. The short story is I have another 4 inch M57 coming so the grips will be matched to the gun I had in mind all along.

I have in my mind 4 pairs....J, (2) K and N frame, in the near future I should be getting in touch with Ken, his work is beyond beautiful.

I think that the Mexican Target should look awesome wearing the magnificent Work that Ken is capable of.

I got my Bigmtnman stags in the mail today. Here they are on my new-to-me 586-3. This is my forth set and certainly not my last. Ken's workmanship and craft is impressive. Since I mentioned the four, here is the family portrait(so far):)
Top to bottom:
1. M1917
2. M657ND
3. M586-3
4. Engraved Baby Chiefs

A little while back, I added a set of Ken's Elk stocks to a 19-3 snubbie, but was having difficulty getting a pic that I liked. Finally did today...

And yesterday I received my fourth set from Ken, for my 1934 38/44 Heavy Duty...

I think I now have a set on each of the S&Ws that I wanted them for... at least until I get another revolver that needs a set! :p

How do I get in touch with Ken?

Through the forum. But, unless he has changed his policy, he doesn't make stocks to order. For him this is a recreational sideline. He makes what he wants, when he wants and then places them up for sale here on the forum and on one or two other limited venues. It is a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Get in the habit of religiously checking the classified ads every day - maybe several times a day if you are really hot for something.

If Ken has changed his policy, I apologize. He is a member of this forum, so I imagine he'll correct me if I have misstated something.

Ken is great to deal with and his products, as you can see from this thread, are well worth the wait.

Good luck.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

This. Gotta be a little patient, especially for something a little less common (like my 38/44), but it's worth the wait.

Also, Ken is fantastic to deal with. We need a big "thumbs up" smiley... ;)

Yep...last pair lasted an hour and just sold a few minutes ago. Many go within a few minutes of posting.

I missed several pairs by minuets then lucked into a some. I'm now waiting on the gun to come:D

One of my pairs of Ken's grips I bought 3 minutes after he posted them. I was checking like every 10-15 minutes. I don't think the three minutes is a record either.
I remember nailing a pair in 4 minutes recently...But I missed another pair today because of a stinkin' dentist appointment...And the dentist got more than Ken gets for most of his grips!......Ben
