Bill O'Reilly is a doofus

Instead of going after legislatures to change laws, he just rants about "liberal" judges, and wants to retroactively further punish people for law breaking.
.

The above comment reminds me of those letters that portray the viewership watching two different shows.

The Factor I see is regularly commenting on specific legislation and also has ongoing legislative crusades on the state and federal level-- Kate's law and Jessica's law are two long term examples. The Factor relentlessly pounds on state and federal officials in general commentary and in face-to-face interviews over legislative issues.

What news commentary talking head on TV speaks on more legislation issues and has had more legislative crusades than the Factor?

Fox has two parts. The real news with Brett Baier and Chris Wallace then the commentary portion. The news branch is the best on tv but as for the other I can only watch Meagen Kelly.
I can't watch Hannity because EVERY question to a guest includes a long recited litany of everything that whoever he's talking about previously said or did like he has to keep reminding us and the guest has to just sit there and listen to all this before finally getting a word in edge wise.

I agree that he has advocated some specific laws and proposed legislation, but he does go off the rails with wanting to retroactively punish people for crimes committed under current law.

He absolutely does ignore the U.S. Constitution when it doesn't fit his preconceived ideas of "justice".

That's why God puts <FF> on DVRs.

I can't watch O'Really or Hannity without remote in hand.

[And could they get Gingrich to stop saying, "Well, . . . " after every question?]

The other day I switched channels on Hannity then went back and he was still running through his list of stuff eventually leading to a question. Then I left for good. My new favorite guest on FOX is a guy named Sabastian Gorka. He's great. A local radio guy who likes him, too, correctly says his name and voice sounds like a Bond villain.

I agree with the OP.

I watched a segment of the O'Reilly show on the internet recently, where he declared that "heavy weapons" like the AR-15 (he puts it in the same category as hand grenades, mortars and bazookas) need to be controlled, and that Congress needs to look into this. And then he concludes by admitting that he doesn't know much about rifles.

Well, duh...

...and he didn't even know that hand grenades, mortars and bazookas are already under Federal controls.

Since I no longer watch him I will have to ask. While he spends plenty of time advocating for new and improved laws for our country, has he spent much time talking about the current trend by you know who to release criminals from Federal prisons short of their terms?

No point in all this mandatory sentences and such if the big guy waves his wand and lets them go.

One would think O'Reilly would have a lot to say about that on a regular basis. Perhaps even putting his staff to work and tell his viewers specifics of the crimes that were committed and why they deserved to have their sentences commuted. I might consider watching if he would do that. Assuming he could dispense with the yelling and bouncing around in his chair. :D

Nah, I probably still wouldn't watch him...

Well sure, all these current event opinion/commentary shows go off the rails in regard to the specifics and facts. That's just the nature of the beast when you consider the dizzying array of topics these type of shows cover every day. That's not an excuse for the TV talking head getting it wrong, it's just reality.

Could any of us here speak on all these subjects from global events to the economy to domestic issues every 3 minutes with any authority? I couldn't. Folks typically gravitate to one TV talking head over another because they simply like the slant and perspective and grow used to it. The Factor has more of a populist slant on things so that can get viewers a bit puzzled when he's all about the Constitution one minute but puts it in the back seat on the next topic.

I watch Fox News shows like On the Record, The Factor, Kelly File and Hannity for what they are, and don't expect much more.

What's wrong with "Ol Bill"?
I think you could start a whole forum on that topic. One thing leaps to mind: he used his show as a bully pulpit to trash the woman who claimed he had sexually harassed her.... until he found out she had recorded some of their phone calls and then he caved in and paid off like a slot machine to keep the recordings from being made public. His last comment: "We will speak of it no more."

My main gripe with him is he is a hypocrite and a bully. His method for "winning" a debate is to scream "SHUT UP!" which is the signal for his production staff to cut off the microphone of the other person who is getting the better of him. He's just a smirking little whiner who thinks he speaks for America.
