Birth Year Coin

I do not have my birth year coin, but have my grandfather's Elgin with his silver dollar birth year watch fob.

Quite a milestone your 100th birthday being this year!!! Just to think my grandfather's watch is older and still runs great. Hope you do as well.

I too have my grandfather's pocket watch, although it is a Buren. I also have a 1871 silver 50 peso coin that I found in Dad's coin collection after he passed. I have been thinking of getting a silver coin bezel and mounting it to use on a watch fob for Grandad's piece.

I have a Elgin pocket watch that I bought for my own use after a local watchmaker could not get Grandad's running correctly. I do like to use them when I go out. Definitely get some looks.:D

I carry a pocket watch every day in the watch pocket of my jeans.
About 20 years ago, I bought a 1946 (my birth year) Walking Liberty .50 cent coin.
I had the tails side engraved.
Using a bezel ring with loop soldered to the ring, I have my birth year coin as my watch fob.

I have some, but they're not gold.

I do have my maternal grandmother's birth year gold half eagle, though (1914). When they decided to buy birth year gold for both of them they discovered that my grandfather's (1911) was difficult to find and very expensive, so instead they bought a marriage year (1929) eagle. I have that one, too. Both to be passed on to my son sooner or later.
