Nice to see the parts starting to arrive Keith. Slowly but surely coming together. :)

slow aint the word Mark,i think some bits are coming in on

a banana boat:rolleyes:

a few parts are here now, and the best so far the ambi safety

i wafted over the levers with desert sand from Halfords:D

keith:)

I did the same with mine soon as it arrived.
Looking very good so far.

I'm looking forward to seeing the completed build there Keith.

I myself now have just a couple of little things left to "acquire" such as forward sling loop in FDE and maybe one small add on in FDE if I can get hold of it.

Both yours and my build are almost like some Arthurian quest for the mythical grail. :D

Rob.

Looking good :)
Your quests are nearing the castle keep, just a few minor dragons to slay....I have yet to even meet the 'story driving old bearded geezer with his cryptic message and pint sized side-kick', let alone cross triggers with the nefarious armies of the evil forces (lets call them customs). I have a longggggggggggg way to go. lol still waiting to hear on a pre-bent magpul BAD lever, should be soon though :).
I Love the overpackaged sling mount, reminds me of opening a box of chocolates in japan.
Well done guys....but I think we all know this is not the end..................two sequels and three prequels are still to be undertaken. The quest never truly ends ;) for now though bask in the glory :)

I am yet to beat the Black Knight and the extremely tough knights that say "NII".
I have fought and conquered the beast of the cave and survived the flight of the African and European swallows coconut journey.
Now to just get that damnable final bit!! Lol.
:D

Barman! I'll have a pint of whatever they're drinking!

Magpul BAD lever turned up from Bravotac last Friday....

One small correction required - basically you just have to straighten the lever and it'll fit - I heated up the point of bend with a plumbers torch and gently eased it round (anodising didn't crack thankfully).

It's not too onerous and is a lot easier if you apply heat - if you can't get a pre-bent one then give it a go or hold on as I was told that Phase 5 Tactical might be doing a 15-22 variant of their cool lever....

Really I love the look of the phase 5 tactical lever, it is very stylish....I like the tacticrayola job on the lever :) Where did you here such a tale....did you have to present a good shrubbery?

No, the gents at Phase 5 sent word via their most trustworthy carrier pigeon, George W, a few weeks ago.....

2 days after I ordered the Magpul!

It's a possibility but not yet in the pipeline - however, having looked at a .308 lever the fancy bit is only spot welded onto the rocker gubbins inside. If you had the wherewithal and say, a slitting saw, one could machine this bit off and re-attach to the Smith bit. A bit of a labour of love but if you really like it it might be worth just ordering one and giving it a go....?

Btw, Suffolk Rifle Company have got CMC drop in triggers in the UK now at £220 a pop ($150 across the pond) - I'm still waiting for my performance centre one, though...

A few more parts turned up this morning :D still a couple

of bits still to come .......still short of a vertical grip and the

KNS anti walk pins......and also waiting for a replacement G33

from Viking Arms :(

keith

i just had an email from Elite Arms to say that my replacement G33 should

be with me in a week or so :D....i will believe it when i see it

not much more to source after these bits;)

How much and where, did you get the boresnake from? also im interested to see the amount of crud that it removes from the barrel. Let me know how yours shoots after a clean, I have never cleaned my 'Annie' ever and it is still as accurate. I have been told to hold off on snaking the barrel until competition season is over, but im intrigued as to how much the S&W needs or reacts to a cleaning, because I throw a lot more rounds through it than my competition Annie. Although I'm taking my 15-22 to a comp on Sunday which I am really looking forward to....whoa im drifting here, basically how much crud and what the rifle performs like afterwards.

Hi GM

My Smith has been very accurate thus far and I am heading to a new venue tomorrow that I just signed up for. I purchased a "Snake " off "The Bay " recently for about 6 Quid delivered.
Gave it a couple of pull throughs and didn't "see" that much on it however I have been shooting mostly subsonic through sound mod. However tomorrow is HV solid nose all day. Will let you know if any difference in performance or accuracy.
As a point to note, I have only really seen carbon and brass dust build up internally but if you want to see REAL crud build up check my older post " moderator Clear-out"
Shoot safe and most of all, enjoy!!!

Keith, that sure is good news on the optics, am thinking you will be doing a grande unveiling soon then, once your last bits arrive.

Rob

If you want to see build up, just put a few copper jacketed (washed) rounds through - absolutely awful - couldn't even get the bore snake weight through after. These were CCI Stingers - way too hot for my 15-22 - had fliers all over the place so not recommended

Wow, that IS a lot of crud  So you must have a regular cleaning schedule now so that doesn't build up again, after you removed all that did you notice any change to your accuracy? Keep me posted as to what happens tomorrow, new range? indoor/outdoor....full of 'greys'? Haha I can imagine them all wondering what is going on, on your first detail blam blam...blamblamblam. hee hee.

Interesting ... I have never seen any copper wash buildup on my 15-22 or my 10/22 and 77/22. Then again, I have never shot stingers. I bet if you quit shooting them, the problem will go away.

Yep new venue for me, been looking forward to joining here since moving home recently, Reepham near Lincoln. Outdoor 25 and 75mtr plenty of "Greys" when I went to put paperwork in though they seem a liberal bunch. Very friendly and approachable at this point. Tomorrow will be first proper shoot without sound mod so were a hoping to minimal stoppages and max fun. Lol.

It definately did - copper washed CCI AR Tactical 22 no problem (1240fps 600 rounds straight through, holding good 1" groups at 60 yards) - then tried 100 rounds of the stingers (1640 fps) - accuracy went out of the window and, from the looks of it when I came to clean the bore, thin foils of the copper came out.

I have never shot such a quick round through the gun before - I've got 200 left so maybe I'll try a mag through from clean - if it's still the same I'll have to stop as it's quite disheartening when you've been 'holing out' good groups.

Anyone else found this round too hot? Never get this with centre fire - quicker the better!

Simply physics ... The faster the round moves through the barrel, the hotter the lead/copper gets and the more it melts, leaving more in the bore. The buildup is far more lead than copper. Besides, the accuracy leaves a lot to be desired.

What fun!

I have the Eotech XPS and the G33 on my AR-15 carbine. The G33 is on the swing out mount, so I can flip it up when not needed. I put the Magpul Pro folding rear sight on it because it is really flat when folding and gave the magnifier more room. (Took me 3 tries on different sights to find what I really wanted)

I like the look of those Troys. I am looking for sights for a blackout build, and those may be the ticket.

The Troy battle sights are IMO the best, but here in England

you cant just go and look at loads of different sights:(

as no has any stock......but a bit steep here at $325:eek:

So first time at new venue.
300 rds of American eagle HV solid. No sound mod. No problem. 1FTF ( full strike so assume duff primer) worked ok on second attempt.
100 rds of Remington Subs. No sound mod. No stoppages or FTF.
100 rds of Winchester Subs. No sound mod no stoppages or FTF.
I had 1 fail to hold open on last round which I think was due to low charge not mechanical failure so 2 thumbs up for NDZ SBR. (Am yet to clip the spring for this) but will only do so if it develops into a regular problem.
As for fouling and build up, no problems experienced as most crud went out muzzle as no sound mod fitted, one less thing to clean.
Bore snake down barrel prior to firing made no real difference to accuracy.
Was some odd rounds that were in bizarre places but I put this down to inconsistent ammo and operator error.

Can honestly say that groups were as expected with no outrages variations either due to me, ammo or clean bore.

Biggest surprise of the day was the interest in the rifle as not been seen by a few of the "greys" before so some interest there.

Though after about 2 hours the only interest on the range was the .50 that was brought out by a member who proceeded to put 5 rounds down range.

A proper attention grabber me thinks.

Prior experience of this beast meant I could continue to shoot uninterrupted as I had double ears on.

Happy days all round. :D

Rob.
