Are you riding the slide?

Just a few of my radumb thoughts bouncing inside my cranium..

Does the bolt hang/stick in the rear position, or is it still going forward but not completely closing with the breach?

You might be doing what's sometimes called "riding the slide". Just pull the charging handle back and let the bolt slam forward, don't ease it forward.

Clean and lightly lube the rails of the bolt carrier, and clean the breach face.

Regards, Mike

i am thinking it has something to do with this:

i was trying to take off the factory flash hider and i herd a slight crake i think the barrel may have twisted in the upper the charge handel takes more to pull back now. Where can i by a replacment upper if thats what it is any help

did you ever contact S&W about it?

naw ended up the barel didnt turn in the reciver had it check out by a gunsmith. and everything lines up as far as the rails

and its when its moving forward closes about 80 to 90percent of the way.

If you had it checked out by a gunsmith, why not have that same smith look at it again? You could always send it back to S&W for repair, but you may be waiting a while for it.

Then there's either something bent or something blocking the bolt. Sounds like your gunsmith didn't look close enough, to me.

^This.

Ever have a mechanic miss something with your car? Take it back to your gunsmith, or better yet, take it to a better gunsmith. Good luck, and please let us know how it turns out.

yea i guess i can take it to another gun smith

Just because someone is a "gunsmith" doesn't mean they are familiar with every firearm. It also doesn't mean they are familiar with the 15-22 and the way the barrel is fitted into the upper. It is NOT the same as an AR15.

You really need to contact S&W's customer service for a return ticket and let THEM go over the rifle. From your first post and now this problem report it does sound, to me, as if you did damage the upper when you tried to remove the flash hider.

Taking your 15-22 to a gunsmith to tell you there's nothing wrong isn't working real well for ya, right?

As Majorlk said.... just send it back to S&W.

Your 15-22 has a warranty for a reason. I would send it back to S&W and let a PROFESSIONAL fix it. That way you know it's fixed and fixed right.
