I just picked one of these up recently. For those of you that uses these, I have a question. Do you run it through dry, or do you wet it down with cleaner?

Little dab 'll do you for a quick clean leaving the range. Just remember if you putting away for the season or rotating to the back of the safe, I go back to the traditional rod, brushes and patches. Snakes are a great quick clean solution and you can put them in a mesh bag and wash them up.

Yep, use a cleaning solvent. Keep in mind that the bore snake just does a temporary "quick clean," it's good for range or out in the woods use but not a true cleaning product.

I make 3 passes dry after I've cleaned my gun.

I put some Rem Oil on the brush part and pull it through a few times. I have a bolt rifle that I use nothing but a bore snake in. I have heard horror stories using rods in rifles without a bore guide messing up the rifling.

As soon as I finish shooting I run a dry bore snake through the barrel when it is still warm. Do a full cleaning when I return home from the range.

I spray some bore cleaner down my 12ga. barrel followed by a dry snake. It takes the major part of the gunk out but doesn't replace brush and patch method.
