I bought a threaded barrel, for the SW22 and the barrel lug. I don't know what kind of tool to use to tighten the barrel lug. What do you folks recommend ? I also think you folks recommend loctite. I would hate to get in a jam where the barrel lug came loose while trying to remove the barrel lug screw. Should I locktite the internal set screw ? Is there a torque spec on the barrel lug ? Thanks y'all…….any help is appreciated. I was very happy to get the threaded barrel from Midwest gun works. I tried to buy a threaded barrel from S and W , and was told they did not sell them. I'm probably going to sell the unthreaded barrel. Otherwise, it will linger in the parts drawer, slowly growing older….unless you all could tell me a use for it .

You ain't slow

Pardon my slow uptake, but what are you talking about?

I am the slow one here. I purchased a new barrel , threaded , from Mdwest Gun Works for my SW22. I got the barrel, and the barrel lug. I don't know what kind of tool to use to tighten up the lug into the bottom of the barrel. It looks lit it could take a spanner of some sort, but I don't know where to find one.

I am not familiar with a sw22 but I wonder if it might be like a HI Standard with a take down barrel where you push a button on the front of the frame to remove barrel, just a thought. Jeff

I'm guessing this is a Victory, and the barrel lug in question is this thing that accepts the takedown screw..

If that's what he's got, I'm guessing there is a spammer with pins to fit those three holes. I'd start by checking the Brownell's catalog or online listings. They probably have one that fits their Magna series of svcrew drivers with interchangeable bits.

I have to confess I was thinking of a barrel threaded at the muzzle for a suppressor or cap.

I hope this will get it tight enough, if i use red loctite ...
Opinions ?

Thanks !!

Clean the threads with alcohol, use the red loctite as directed and let it cure. Should work fine.
I thank you !! There should be no reason to have to remove a 4 dollar and change part in the future, anyway. I can get it reasonably snug, the red will lock it down. I just needed re- assurance.
