Morning all!:D

Just figured I'd sign up to S&W Forum - say HI - and pick the brains of fellow members when it comes to my new/used S&W 5906. It's a 3rd gen '90's era pistol (not sure of the ACTUAL yr yet) and has got less than 300rnds thru it. It came with 3-15rnd S&W mags and FOBUS paddle holster and Mag carrier for $350 from a co-worker I know well. I'm definitely a "newb" to S&W, but NOT to handguns or to shooting in general.

I'm originally from Canada & recently became a U.S. citizen last yr after living here for the past 15 yrs with my wife & 2 sons. I was NEVER a hunter growing up - or lived in a household that actually OWNED guns. But my wife's family DID. I owe "kudos" to my father-in-law & brother-in-law(s) for showing this Canadian import the ropes, and helping me get to where I am today. :o I never really took to hunting the hunting part other than helping them when needed, but they did introduce me to "recreational" handgun shooting....and "gave" me via inheritance my 1st revolver & small bore rifle. NOW I am thoroughly "addicted";)

(as my wife puts it)

I currently own:
S&W 5906 (used/new to me)
XD9sc w/CT Laser Grips
Beretta 92FS Police Edt.
Bersa T380
Ruger Single Six .22/.22Mag (inherited)
Marlin Mod#60(inherited)
Ruger 10/22

Nothing BIG caliber, as I don't re-load.....yet. At present I'm a licensed CCP holder and volunteer as a youth shooting instructor thru our local range.
I'm a television photographer by trade, & basically grew-up in my father's/grandfather's auto shop. I'm proud to have the "back-yard" mechanic label and use it quite frequently. The wifey & I are also avid ATV'rs and attend as many local rallys/poker runs.

That's about it for the highlights. I look forward to honest opinions and suggestions when it comes to my new S&W and other topics in general.

Welcome Cups71. My first pistol in 1987 was one very similar to yours. Mine was a 2nd Generation Model 659. Loved it! So will you.

Welcome to the S&W forum from a member still north of the border. That's a great looking gun you have there.I much prefer the looks and feel of the Hogues that have been installed on your gun.The originals are just too stiff and plasticy. I have had a couple of 5906s over the years but they have been traded away.Mine were both adjustable sight versions. I am impressed with your photographic skills, that's an awesome photo.
