Bought myself a Ma Deuce .50 cal

Been quite a while since I fired one. But it still brings a smile to my face. :D
Another fan of the M-60 here too. ;)

It looks like this old gun brought back some memories for a few folks. It's been a long time since I've shot one. I'm getting 3800 rounds of ball and 1200 rounds of API with it. Comes with three barrels.

Head spacing is important and pretty much only needs to be done when you change the barrel from my understanding.

Walnuterd, if you find that cleaning kit and what not, I'll be glad to pay ya a fair price, let me know.

I almost sprung for an M60 last year, a NIB Maremount, but the asking price of $49,000 was a little steep. They've come down since then. I bought a West Hurley Thompson a few weeks ago. A third of the price of a Colt, but I knew I would'nt feel as guilty shooting the WH.

Here's a close up. You can see how clean she is.

I shot a short belt out of an M2 at the old Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot back in the 1990s.
I'd shot a bunch of other full autos at that match, and elsewhere, but the .50 is just different. I wish I'd ponied up the cash and shot it more since I haven't had a chance to fire one since.

The last time was off of a M114. Cool mount and aircraft style sight and 8 tons of vehicle to steady the sight picture.

Fall 1970

Last time I had fun with one of those, AIT at Ft. Lewis on the big range. Tore up some old light armored vehicles with that bad boy. Ground mounted and just thumping and dancing and creating a whirlwind of a duststorm around my head. Still vivid in my memory. You'll have a ball!

We had "quad 50's" on some of our deuce & 1/2's when we moved up highway 1 from Chu Lai to Da Nang. Real pee-bringers!

Rumor has it that the Dallas County Sheriff will not sign off on Class 3... Did you have any issues?

Sheriff Valdez won't sign off unless you're one of her girlfriends or contributor. In Texas the easy way is via a Trust. No photos, no fingerprint cards.

I think you'll really enjoy it despite the ammo costs.

Just wait until you run your first belt of M1 incendiaries through it!

Other belt feeds are nice but there's nothing like the M2HB.

Time to Rock & Roll....

It's amazing to think that JMB brought this weapon on line in something like the 20"s and it's still making history. Everything from tanks, planes, ground mounts, trucks, half tracks, sniper rifles to goodness knows what. A lasting weapon from a true American genius.

I've been a JMB fan since I started reading about firearms as a kid. The first time I tore down an M2 I was in awe. JMBs first successful ctg rifle was the Highwall, a single shot falling block rifle. His first successful repeater was the 86 Winchester. The 86 Winchester uses vertically sliding locking blocks to lock the breach in place. In essence a lever actuated falling block. The M2 Browning uses a variation on the vertically sliding locking block theme to lock the breach. Essentially JMB took the falling block concept from the single shot to the belt fed machine gun.
