I just got the shield last night and planned on going to the range that's 30 miles away and woke up to snow and tv going nuts on winter storm warnings. Grrrr. Well I guess I can spend the time to clean it good and review holsters ! Just wanted to put some lead down range .

Yep just my luck ! I have been putting it off the purchase till I was sure on the model and then it snows !

I've only got 150 rounds through mine since I bought it in December. Put the most recent 50 through it last weekend at an indoor range. Winter here sucks.

Well I lubed my pistol but for some reason after putting it back together I cannot get it to lock the slide back. And with a magazine in it does not lock to the rear ?

Took it back apart and put it back on and when I pull the slide back and try to engage the slide stop it does not lock it.

the recoil spring is tigher than you think, make sure you're pulling the slide back all the way while pushing the slide lock up with your thumb.... Pretty common among new shield owners until you get used to it...

Congrats on the new Shield. Hopefully you can get out soon and put some lead through it. Have fun and be safe.

Bought my Shield .40 in November and haven't shot it...snow, cold, ice...not good. Starting to feel like a hermit. Getting a lot of dry fire exercise though...

After about 1000 dry fires my Shield started acting really nice. It was hard to park the slide at first but it is fine now. I greased the magazine followers with synthetic moly grease, greased the slides and generally cleaned and re oiled everything. It's as smooth as butter now. Can't wait to shoot it. It is too cold here right now. I also sanded off the fake sandpaper on the trigger guard. It felt like a needle on my knuckle.

Picked up my shield last night and put about 80 rounds through this morning! I had the same issue with the slide lock when cleaning it last night but got it together after several tries. Now my issue is I can't get all 8 rounds into my magazines! I'm new to guns and this is my first 9mm so I guess I have to do some finger strength exercises.

got the cure for loading mags

Do yourself a big favor and buy the Maglula loader. I got mine in the Range Kit and love it. With my arthritic hands it is a blessing.

I have noticed that after several months of Shield ownership my hand strength has improved. :p

It was the winter of our discontent... Yup, new shield, Minnesota winter. I've installed my CT laser, and just about wore out my new Crossbreed holster just waiting to get on the range. And it's in my back yard!!!
