Bucket of Bullets????

Folks, it's like any other ammo ...

I think a lot of "good" AND "Bad" ammo posts are just repeats of what someone has read on some Internet forum from a guy who shot a 50-round box and became an instant ammo expert, and not based on any actual experience with the product. If any ammo was truly as bad as what some people post on the Internet, it would have disappeared long ago and the company either stops making it or simply goes out of business. Remington makes some of the most highly regarded centerfire ammo around, both pistol and rifle (including their Golden Saber SD line) and it's illogical to think they would deliberately make junk .22s.

Try it and see if it runs in YOUR rifle.

Dirtiest ammo I have ever used. Also, too many FTF

For one, why didn't Rem put a full 3 bricks in the bucket ?
Everyone knows .22lr shooters count in bricks....
I bought a bunch of the goldens back around 2001-02
because F&F sold them for $6+ a box[525]. Shoot some of
them these days intertwined with other stuff.
Rare to have a dud BUT....about 10% have oversized
projectiles [diameter].
They work OK in most arms we shoot....Mark II, GSG, Smith 63,
Taurus 94......but mostly won't insert in the Bearcat or a
50yr old Single-Six. It just depends which handful I grab
at the time from the ammo can.
We don't depend on them.....just trying to use them up...
and replace them with other as we go.

I bought two bulk boxes of Remington Golden Bullets about a year ago and my 15-22 hates them. Misfires and FTE's all over the place. In fact, the first round I ever tried out in my 15-22 was a misfire. The blue box Federal 525's however work great in it. That being said, I have several of the old Springfield(Savage/Stevens) single shot .22's along with a Remington Model 33. These are the hand cock type rifles and it seems the Golden Bullets work fine in all of those (harder firing pin strike plus bolt action ejection?). They also work fine in my Mossberg 702 Plinkster, Marlin Model 60 and Henry Golden Boy. However, when I run out of them, I won't be buying anymore.

Anybody have experience with this Remington ammo? Cabela's: Remington® .22 LR HV Ammo Bucket

Check out the reviews listed in the website. See the Nov 3rd listing? That's what my bucket looked like when I tried some for my Henry. And I bought mine for only a little over $50 when I bought it. I'm all about Wal-Mart's boxes of Federal bulk now. The Goldens were cheap fodder for the Henry but the Federal works in everything.

Uh, that's not quite what S&W says. The manual says not recommended.

To me, "not recommended" means "do not use" ;)

Is there anyone who seriously believes S&W actually tested all the ammo listed? Not me.

Maybe not, but I'll bet many people that work at S&W own 15-22's, and have compared notes and figured out which ones to stay away from.

Ive been useing the Rem Golden in my wifes Ruger Mk3 and we might have 2 or 3 failure to fire out of the 550 round box.
The we have a few that get jammed on chambering and the heads all bent. The heads dont appear to held all that tightly in the case on some of the rounds
I think they are fine for general pinking duty in semi autos.
But,come match day? I need something more reliable. Im new to rim fire so Im still sorting thru what else is available.

Is there a bridge in your neighborhood that runs over a long deep river? If so, dump it out. Watching the "splash" will be more fun that shooting that ****.

PS - don't take that as a real recommendation. It's merely a dramatic way to say that anything with the word "Remington" on it is not worth keeping. (unless it was made 40 years ago)
