Since I know for a fact Alliant has some perfectly good 1898 vintage Unique on the shelf, not in a special storage area, I'm not afraid of using older powder. Of course, it has to smell right (no acrid smell of nitric acid formation) in order for me to use it. However, I've only had one can of WWII H4831 go bad on me (I have some WWII H414 that's still good).
There are several reloaders in the family and some of them don't have enough sense to get a decent supply of components, even though they shoot a lot. So, I guess getting components is my job.
I have and use primers made in the 1960s all the way to new production.
I suppose the old saying, "waste not, want not" needs to be considered a little more seriously by the reloading populace.
