Any help appreciated 1-4 pounds will last awhile - kids and I shoot many 38 WCs

Hope you can find Bullseye.....

But if you can't find it there are similar powders that you might not like as well (I love BE myself) buy if you can find something to hold off until more powders become available, even if just a pound or two.

Like Accurate #2, Alliant Red Dot, W231 are pretty close.

Hodgdon Titegroup is a fast target powder but many think it burns a little hot. It's also really touchy on charge weight. I have a couple of pounds but haven't used it enough to say much.

Accurate 5 and Unique are a lower on the ladder of burning speed but they would be a good near substitute.

Hit the manuals and the internet and I'll bet you can come up with more close substitutes.

BTW Trail Boss would work for target lead bullets because it was specifically designed for 'cowboy' shooting.

Thanks - I realize I can opt for other powders - I have 8 pounds of Unique that I use for 45ACP, 20 gauge, and light magnums...I am being picky for BE in 38 WCs

That's fine, but...

Bullseye is my go-to powder also, but none has been available since last fall. :( So, I've gone to using Red Dot and it works very well. I was just able to pick up 3 lbs. of TiteGroup, 2 lbs. of 700X and a lb. of CFE Pistol. Never used any of these before, but the shops around here can't seem to get any Bullseye, 231 or HP-38.

Best of luck, but you may have to change your mind about Bullseye for a while :(

Same here...Powders like Bullseye, 231, etc. are impossible to find. Not to rub it in, but I have plenty of Bullseye. I'd like to find 4 or 8# of 231!

I've been having to use Titegroup for everything non magnum for a while now. It would be nice if the great powder shortage of the second term would finally end.

It's time for diversity

If you can't find your favorite, Bullseye, then buy what is available. I use Accurate Arms #2 and shoot beside devoted Bullseye shooters. There is no readily apparent difference in the results displayed by the paper targets.

In these days of shortages, buy what is available  .

I understand the desire to stick with old favorites but in all honesty, you might be pleasantly surprised by AA2. If your measure will handle it (it is a rather fine ball shape that "leaks" in some measures) you might end up actually preferring it to Bullseye - or at least liking it just as much.

I consider AA2 interchangeable with Bullseye now (in application, not in charge weights) but never would have gotten to that point without some very determined prodding from a good friend (and forum member), who shall remain unnamed. :o

I picked up some BULLSEYE a few weeks ago at a LGS, they had quite a few 1 pounders on the shelf, I got two, left the OTHERS for other enthusiasts.

Well, I really hope...

I really hope you can find some before too long. Things have gotten a little bit better the last few months. If they continue maybe we'll start seeing BE on the shelf. When I see it or Unique or Acc 5 I'll be grabbing.

Bullseye

The one good thing with BE (for me at least) is my .38 loads use only 2.8 grains per round or about 2500 round per pound. I found some Red Dot at a LGS the other day and have started using it as well. Shoots the same - good to have an alternative load. On that note - I am finding I am not shooting as much as I used to partly as a result of component issues.

I use the same load and a pound of BE make LOTs of rounds. Can't get much more economical than that.

I was in a GS yesterday evening looking for powder. The only
pistol powder they had in stock was 700X, which I didn't get
any of as it's not one of my favorites. they said they are
getting regular shipments of some powders, Hodgdon, IMR
and Winchester but no shipments of any Alliant powders
were expected for many months, maybe a year. Might be
time to find an alternative to Bullseye.

I use BE as well . . .but if you can't find it . . . there's two alternatives. Stop shooting when you run out or change to another powder that you can get. If they're out of vanilla . . . then get chocolate or go hungry.

It's unfortunate that we can't get what we'd like at times but "change is good" and sometimes you just have to.

Do you have a local gun board with a classified section? Loads of powder on our local board at about 25%+ markup over retail. Flippers aren't just concentrating on .22LR.
