I want to try really hard not to be a whiner, but I am wondering if any of you use or know of an app that actually spots available ammo on Midway and completes the sale without you doing much if anything other than setting it up.

I never gave it a thought when I would get the email and see it a half hour or more later only to find the ammunition was out of stock again. No biggie. I don't have a smart phone yet so I don't do email while mobile.

But the other day I was actually sitting at my computer and had the Midway site up for the ammo that I was considering. Hit refresh a couple of times and boom, one that I was interested in was available. Hit the buttons pretty much as fast as my fingers would move and by the time (a matter of seconds) I got to the complete checkout it was out of stock.

Just curious if I am battling with bots versus people to get a bit of ammo. Yes, I am talking about .22LR. Pretty much don't look anymore locally. Only one store in town, Wal Mart and the shelves for most calibers are bare. I even resorted to Midway for .38 recently.

Don't feel bad I was on their site looking at ammo today when I received one of their notifications I guess I had set up. I didn't think I still even had any left since I gave up on setting them up. Well it comes in, I click on my notification and guess what SOLD OUT. I couldn't have been more then 10 seconds. Thats why I have given up on Midway. The best part it wasn't even for 22 lr since I have plenty. It was for Speer Gold Dot 22 WMR's that I had forgotten about since I had already got them on another site.

I use a couple of sites for ammo alerts, AmmoSpy & WikiArms. You can set the price you're willing to pay and you'll get an alert when it comes available. On the cheaper end, you still have to be ready to buy when it come up, because it usually goes fast. Plus you have a lot more options other than Midway.

Thanks for the links. I know many talk about their online sources. I have only gone with Midway to this point. Happy with them really, although I agree their shipping can be a bit interesting. I have noticed that adding some other items or even more ammo of a more available caliber helps. But I may have to branch out and try some other sources.

Shipping can be a killer if you don't watch out. When I have some spare time, I go to a some of the sites and start an order to see what they do on their freight. If its too high, I can X them off my list no matter how cheap their ammo is.

FYI on WikiArms, I stood in front of an ammo case at a Wally World. Loaded up WikiArms on the phone and checked to see what it told me for 9mm in that store. Totally missed six 100 round containers of Tulammo BrassMaxx right there on the shelf in front of me.
