Does anyone know the exact type and size of tool needed to remove the striker block on a C.O.R.E. slide? I emailed Apex Tactical and was told it is a T5. However, all my T5 bits just spin freely in the hole, and my T6s are too large - won't enter the hole in the retaining screw.

I looked at the screw after I tried with a T5 and the splines were stripped out. Then I took a T6 and tapped it into the screw with a small hammer then turned the screw out. I'm thinking the screw is alloy and not very hard. Hope this helps.

Not sure on the actual size, but I use the same tool that I use when I repair iPods. I think you can get the tool kit for a few dollars on amazon or eBay.

Thanks for the tip, Bkreutz. It worked great. I just ordered a Apex Forward Set Trigger & Sear Kit, now that I know I will be able to install the new USB.

I used one of these two.

I think I ended up using a hex key wrench to take mine off. When I looked closely it did look like a torx but the hex key fit and did the job fine.

It's a hex screw. You have to get the right size, and be very careful not to strip it. If messed up, then the torx will work if pounded in.

Good picture, my eyes couldn't see that small screw very well.
