Into my Caladium phase going on year two. Buy the bulbs by the box assorted and plant away then wait to see what colors come up. This year I went internet browsing and they said when planting bulbs cut out the dominant eye, let it heal for 24 hours and then plant and you will get a sh..load of shoots instead of one or two. Well I thought I had messed up since none of them sprouted for over three weeks. Then within the last week I am awash with emerging caladiums of all different colors and sizes amongst my ferns and other assorted greenery. Not really a structure person but I'm getting my back yard looking like a funky avant guarde collection of all kinds on plants that I like-screw what anyone else thinks. Got mondo grass and kimberly queen ferns growing and spreading around the oaks where it is too shady to grow grass. Got "airplaine plants" with lots of pups dangling hanging from the shed porch. NO boston ferns-too cliche'. GOt the fish pond with a nice covering of plants I scooped from the bayou with around fifteen ten centt goldfish that are now around two and a half inches long. Got two sulcata tortoises that someone gave me last August as new (5 day) hatchlings-they are now around 5 inches now. Names are Flintstune and Rubble. Along with six ducks. Two Swedish blues and four Rouens. Just found out last week that the males do not get their male plumage until around 15 weeks so I have discovered that I have three males and one female. Blues do not have the drake curl so it looks like I have 3 and 3 male and female so I will have to decide whether I want to keep the hens for the eggs or the drakes because they are prettier. Neithbor got 7 chickens and the rooster climbs up on the wood pile in his yard and then jumps over into my yard. Dosen's do much and the ducks leave him alone but the little bugger can't get back into his yard. Neighbor tried leaning a 4 foot ladder against the fence on my side and problem solved. The rooster hops up the ladder and goes back into his yard when it gets dark

I sit in a nice cypress adirondack with either a Hendricks and lemon/mint Topochico, or an Isla with soda plugged into the grateful dead, Little Feat or 80's music depending on my mood during the sweet spot of the evening enjoying dusk to dark, my plants and critters. Bonus points for the family of Cardinals that shows up at dusk to feast on the left over duck food. Maybe the next project will be a bird feeder for them.

Not worried about Israel/Iran. Nor worried about the government. Not listining to Fox news any more-in fact not listening to ANY news any more .
Anyway that's where I've benn lately.

There would be gunfire if I got woken up at 4am by a Rooster every morning........
