There is a 1913 catalog "Plunders, Old and New" for auction online the seller claims that it is a common thing for this catalog to start at page 9. I have not heard this before and others I have seen for sale don't mention pages missing.
Is it correct that it is common to find this catalog starting at page 9?
Thanks.

Yes it is. The story is that S&W felt there was too much information for their competition contained in the first few pages. The scare catalogs are the ones with all of the pages intact. Be careful not to pay too much. A good price would be $350.00 to $400.00 US.

Don's estimate would be for the one with out the first 8 pages. One thing to look for are these catalogs on a sellers table at a gun show, who doesn't know that the missing pages is OK. You can generally knock down the asking price considerably by showing that the missing pages mean it's only part of a catalog and worth very little money! Ed.

It depends on condition of course. Ed's correct in letting people know that the pages are missing. I once got a catalog at auction by telling the auctineer that pages were missing. I paid $25.00.

Thanks for your help, this is a case of "you snooze you lose".
Someone purchased this one, maybe I gave them the heads up. It disappeared the day I posted the original question. I now know it was a good buy, thanks.
It's interesting, now that I know the value, that it was listed (with starting bid & buy it now) at least 4 times over the last 3 months and did not attract a bid, on 2 occasions the buy it now was just under $300.
I had no intention to purchase because of the missing pages, but would have after the first reply but is was gone.
Cheers.

Well it was not gone just after the post it must have expired as it was relisted for about the 5th time. The starting bid again coming down this time it was $203.90US. Watching catalogs for quite a few years now this is the only plunderers I have seen on ebay. So taking the advice here, I was the only bidder, it comes with a 1915 price list. This is now the dearest catalog I have purchased at nearly double what I paid for the 1905.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
