I just received 10 boxes of the CCI Blazer 22 LRN 525 bulk packs from Palmetto State Armory. Aside from this lot, I have purchased just over 31,000 rounds of your bullets with no issues. All my 22's love them(S&W 22a, Sig Sauer 1911 22 and Ruger 10/22 rifle).
This lot however has some sort of a wax like coating on them. I found with my S&W 22A the rounds have to be pushed in instead of just dropping in the magazine as they did with all of the others I have used. After about 100 or so through the gun, I started getting failures to feed. Over another 60 or so rounds I got 6 or 7 failures. Apparantly the gunk started to build up.
I then used about another 75 in my Ruger 10/22 rifle. Again it was difficult to get the rounds into the mags without some extra push because of the gunk on the bullets. This is a gun that I NEVER get failure to feeds but I had 8 or 9 over the 75 or so rounds I used.
I have emailed CCI in Idaho and am awaiting a response. Has anyone else seen this problem with the CCI Blazer LRN's? I am hoping they replace the lot. I have no intention of cleaning 5,000+ bullets.

Maybe the wax got too cold when they ran that batch? I had that happen with some Hornady bullets; cured those with a .358 sizer to strip off the extra. Don't know what to suggest with .22 cartridges.

Ironically, I have two cheap guns that won't reliably feed any plated bullets, and shoot a steady diet of .22 Blazers with the wax coating.

interesting. i just bought a mossberg 715t(their "tactical" .22) and in the deal, i was given a box of these. they were the first ammo through the gun and i had quite a few fail to feed. i did not notice any wax on them, but then again, i may have just been a little giggly about the new gun. after 50 rounds, i switched to federal's and they had a few fail to feed's also, but it may have been a build up of the wax you have referred to. i have not had a chance to clean the gun yet(shot it in the middle of my daughters birthday party), to see if there is any build up. i thought i may not have lubed it enough. cleaning it will be on my list for tonight after work. i will be looking at them to see if my box also has the wax.

i just checked, there is a minimal waxy residue on them. i am interested in what i find when i clean it tonight.

Thanks for the comments. Like I said, I have never had a problem with the Blazer LRN 22's. All my 22's love them. Instead of the bullets looking clean and "shiny" like every other lot I received, this lot has little specs of whatever it is all over them and they look dull and dirty. After handling them I can feel a wax like film on my fingers. I haven't heard back from CCI yet (2 days) but I am hopeful they will make things right.

the wife was in bed when i got home. the gun is still locked safely away from the kiddos...my honey do list for today is long. i might stick it in the garage before i leave for work so i can clean it tonight...

Hey, have you heard back from CCI yet? I'm having the same problem. I just bought a few boxes of Blazers a month ago and mine are all inconsistently covered with wax. I got a few failure to feeds and my groups were **** @ 25 yards.

I had a box of .22 LR SV that had the same problem, had to wipe each one off before loading the mag.

Vagrant, I finally got ahold of a real person there and I shipped back all 10 boxes of the 525 bulk Blazers. They are replacing them as well as additional boxes to cover the considerable freight charges to return them to CCI. I am trying to get them to send me the replacements before they get mine back to them (next Tuesday). We will see.
