My last purchase was in March, 2020. $28 a brick. I still have quite a few left, but today I found some that met my "new normal" price point so I bought the limit. It was 200 / day / person. With wife and son along I was able to get 600. We just had to cash out separately.

$5.54 / 100. They had ample supplies of SPP and SRP. If Sportsman's Warehouse can do it, the others MUST be price gouging.

Limits are a hassle. They get people into the store to buy other stuff. It’s possible they are selling them at cost or they are big enough to have contracts with manufacturers that get them more favorable pricing.

Same price I saw them for in a Sportsman’s Warehouse in Denver a few weeks ago. If I could have gotten them home, I would have made multiple trips/purchases, but I could only look at them…bummer:(

I'm sure that some retailers are setting prices high, perhaps some bought primers when the wholesale price was at its peak and are not looking to take a loss. My local shop is still at $80/1k on Winchester SPP.

The local shop that I have been dealing with for 40 years has not received a shipment since 2020. That's what made SW stand out.

Ammo is not locally available in many calibers, but the largest supplies are 9mm and 5.56, which I would imagine is also the largest demand.

I just wonder if CCI has increased mfg of SPP and SRP and cut back on others.

Have you ever heard of the term called, "Loss Leader"? It is when a store, usually a big box one, puts items on sale at less than cost. The purpose is to increase foot traffic. The "loss leader" items usually have a limit in how much one can purchase.

Yup. I sure did. Unless we know what the wholesale price is, I guess we'll never know what SW's business model is.

Having limits is also a motive to service as many of their customers as possible.

I have heard rumors, and we all know what they are, but the scuttlebutt is that 54 bucks a brick still provides a profit.

I know the Argentine primers are now selling for $60/M, have received some recent eMail offers. I don’t need any primers.

My neck of the woods it is Fiocchi - $120.00
*Fiocchi 1500 qty. Otherwise Federal is $95/1000.

I look at it as reloading is still a better deal than buying factory ammunition. Revolver calibers are ridiculously high if you store bought.

In my opinion that price, considering the rampant inflation of the past few years, is getting pretty close to pre-COVID prices, if shipping and hazmat are included.

Yep, while visiting Kelso, WA, last week, I picked up 1700 SPP at the Sportsman’s Warehouse. Since you can only buy 200 at a time, I had to enlist the help of family and friends. Paid $5.50/K. Also picked up a pound of Bullseye. It was the first I had seen it in a couple years.
