Oh man, I don't think much of the CCW badges, but where can I get one of these. This is really great!!!

Google "Stinkin' Badge" and a couple of places show up that sell them.

They are funny.:p

We have been beating this same mule on the PA Firearm Owners Assn. discussion form for a while. Everybody agrees the CCW/Weapons Permit badges are about the dumbest thing someone carrying a gun could ever have.

Thanks to steamloco and the folks at the PA forum for this enlightening video. I'm not sure which was more informative ... the explanation and rationale for carrying the CCW badge, the finger-on-trigger instruction, the quick draw technique, or the magical spinning Glock maneuver. The entire video should be watched to appreciate it to the fullest.

I know, I hardly ever have a serious suggestion 'bout anything...But,
to those folks that want to identify themselves as CCW Lic. holders in an emergence,
i.e. like holding an attacker at gun point when the police arrive on scene.

I would try one of them double window ID cases.
Just sayin' if I rolled up and the good guy was showing me ID like this, it might...Well make for a smoother outcome.

I see no problem with owning one.

As long as you bought it or it was given to you as a gag gift and remains on a shelf next to one of those singing fish. I don't know why you would carry one considering it means absolutely nothing.

I'll tell you what bothers me more though.... the guys with the baggy pants wearing "dog tags" outside of their shirt as a fashion accessory.

"A tactical AK and a Glock, that's how I roll."
I think I just found a new roll model.

With a slight modification, the CCW badge could be extremely useful.

It should have an LED screen, maybe even a laser that says:

DORK
right in the middle.
Flashing like a strobe would be good.
Now, the cops really know who they're dealing with.....

I guess I always come up with the opposing viewpoint, but when I lived in the big city where the police always shot first, and ask questions later, if I had ever gotten in a situation where I was holding off a bad guy and we both had guns, I sure would like to have something to flash at the cops when they showed up and before the shooting started for real. Details could always be hashed out later, expecially since I was ex-police.

Thanks _Armyphotog_ I was having a hard time coming up with an reasonable opposing viewpoint, but your comment makes sense to me. I don't agree, but I understand.

Sounds like you should know that a cop doesn't want to see anything in your hand but sweat.
That's what I'll show them- my shiny, sweaty palms. Open and empty. Anything else can be perceived as a threat.

I total agree, but I was thinking nighttime, and I still would want to be identified as quickly as possible as the "good guy" in that particular situation. (and would you really want to put your gun down before the bad guy covering you did? Not me. Like they always say, I rather be judged by 12, than carried by six.)
