I have a book of his that is from his blog, discussing current topics, etc. It's a good read.

He has a new biography out that I'm getting for Christmas.

Apparently I have been above average this year.

Saw him about 15 years ago at the Route 66 music fest, Joplin, Mo.
He had mellowed out by then and no longer, "got stoned in the morning
and drunk in the afternoon".
But he put on a good show along with about a 10 year old boy who
played a mean fiddle.
We actually went to the fest to see one of my all time favorites
Delbert McClinton. Delbert like Charley is also getting a little
long in the tooth.

2001 Super Bowl

Had the very good fortune to attend Super Bowl XXXV as a guest and the very first experience in our tent was a big guy with a beard playing great music. Said 'dang, that's Charlie Daniels.' Sure was.

He was playing for a very small group, and I felt kinda important...and blessed. What a performance it was.

(Post-game was the Marshall Tucker Band.)

As an aside, arrived home about 3a the next morning, took a brief nap, and went to work. Thought about taking the day off but just had to tell everyone why I looked so bad...was at the Super Bowl.

PS: Ravens 34-7 over the New York Football Giants.
