Last night I took two of my son in laws, my mother and Mrs. Meaneyedcatz and saw Charlie.

It was an excellent show. Guy is 82 years old but still belts it out like he is 22 years old. He paid tribute to the military, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and America.

Played several hits like The Devil Went Down to Georgia and my favorite Saddletramp.

It's worth going if he's in your neighborhood.

I was waiting for a helicopter at Camp Victory, located in Baghdad, in 2003. The landing zone was primitive and we all set on the ground. One of the soldiers scrounged up a chair and gave it to this old fella. He had the helmet and body armor on and was grateful for a better place to sit.
We soon figured out it was Charlie Daniels, and his band just showed up to tour Iraq. We all flew different directions and I never got to see him play.

HAVE SEEN HIS ACT.

I've seen the CDB a # of times in the 70's/80's, never got a good look at his face due to the big hats. Often paired with other good acts (outlaws etc.) & for not a whole lot of $. He could really tear up a bow. Glad to hear he's keeping busy.

The first time I saw a CDB concert was in about '77. They opened for Eric Clapton at the Hollywood Sportatorium. I felt sorry for Clapton. What an act to follow.

I'll go see Charlie Daniels anytime I can.

CD is a wonderfully special man. As Down to earth as one can be with an eagerness to help a good cause, seldom accepting the credit he deserves.
And one awesome entertainer. And not a bad bass fisherman given the opportunity.

One of the very few live musical performances I have seen was Charlie Daniels performing at Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth, sometime in the early 1980s. I think it was on a New Years' Eve. It was memorable. I wonder if BBT is still in Fort Worth? It used to be billed as the largest honkytonk in Texas.
