You will however get some. I will often times use Fed 550 in club matches where they let us rerun if we get a dud, but I won't use them in major events because you don't get a do-over. I only use CCI-Tactical or Win M-22 if I can't find any but CCI-MiniMags work good also. Sometimes you can go an entire box of Fed 550 with no issues then suddenly you will get 10-20 in one box. Mostly bad primer cord with gaps in it and they just happen to line up with your FP at the time. Out of the 20 maybe 5 will have no primer cord at all no matter how you align the bullet in the mag/chamber. I always take the duds or not firing ones to a shooting line after a match and test them out. This is the kind of data I am getting from them. I get similar results with Fed AutoMatch. This kind if stuff happens on the Fed production line because the people don't watch to see when the line of primer cord is close to running out so it can get replaced in time. Then any rounds that may not get any get thrown in with all the rest. CCI is known to take more care.I confess to being a 22 snob as well, but with the prices steadily rising I started shopping and running field tests.
I have used MiniMags for 35+ years, but I can't stomach $5.5 for 100.
Short story long, I tried Federal Bulk Packs (550 rounds) from WalMart and was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy. consistency and cleanliness. When I first tried them they were $12 or $13 and I bought five bricks. When they went to $15 I bought 5 more. When they hit $17 I used a shopping cart and got 10. Last time I looked they were $19 or so.
I've shot them in several pistols and rifles and haven't found a misfire yet.

Can we just let this thread die? The prices that were outrageous 2 years ago would make me feel like I stole it today.
