Chiappa Rhino Revolver

While helping with scoring a stage during an IDPA match this past weekend, I saw a very odd revolver. There was a group of Itialians passing through and using the match as a warm up for the national match next week. One of the fellows was running a revolver/speed loader set up for the stage. From where I was watching, the revolver seemd pretty "odd". Once he had finished shooting and we had him scored and taken care of, the S.O. pulled him aside so we could all take a look. It was something called a Rhino. The barrel is on the bottom. It is supposed to lower the bore axis. Looked it up and found out it's made by a Itialian company named Chiappa. Anybody else ever seen one? Has anyone ever shot one?

the design is supposed to counter recoil greatly. personally, i don't find them to be ugly, just different. i have too many other projects to buy one, but i'd love to try one out. i doubt very seriously whether i will ever see one in my neck of the woods though. maybe one day.

I'm glad there is a new "ugliest gun I ever saw". Everybody griped and criticized the Ruger LCR endlessly for months, until the S&W Bodyguard .38 was introduced, and I haven't heard much about how ugly the LCR is! Now everybody can concentrate on the Rhino and give the Ruger a rest! Frankly I would like to try the Rhino just to see how it shoots.

Go to the Chiappa website and take a look at the lockwork with the sideplate removed and see if it is something you would want to depend on.

Did you have a chance to shot it? Just wondering how easy/diffcult it is to aim/shoot and if there was any difference in the recoil?
