I didn't have one of these on my "want" list because, although Robert Vivas tells us S&W made 3,670 of them exclusively for the NYPD Equipment Bureau to sell to officers, I'd not seen one for sale, till now.

Dr. Jinks said this one shipped "to a large police department" in October 1989. Robert told me it's one of the 1,253 the NYPD Equipment Bureau returned, unsold to officers, to S&W.

As Robert's story about these goes, S&W replaced the bobbed hammers, reconfigured the Double Action Only Models 60-2 into standard SA/DA models, and resold them on the commercial market. Some, reportedly, were given 3" barrels, but I've not seen one. I'll letter it to see if Dr. Jinks can offer its return date and re-shipping date (I've seen that in letters on other ones).

The mechanics are terrific, but it's been "used" so I need to spend some time cleaning it.

If you have one, please, let's see it.

I bought this one about 6 years ago. It came with a bobbed Hammer and J frame Combats.

Okay, I'll bite.

I have no earthly idea what that means.

I kinda expect it means Not For Sale At Any Price.

If a department has enough officers S&W will do quite a bit. At one time, NYPD would stock approved versions of service firearms for sale to the officers at less than MSRP.
