I was in the LGS today and eyeballed a Chiefs Special in 40S&W for sale. I looked at it briefly and it seemed in pretty good condition but didn't get details about the model number and what came with it besides the one mag that was in it.
The asking price was $550.
Based on the limited info I was able to provide does that seem like a fair price?

They also had a SIG 239 9MM (used) sitting next to it, asking $500. (sorry, also limited info except it seemed in great condition). Does that seem reasonable ?

Jeppo , that was me . I got it off the big board . Mags are HARD to find , and not cheap when you do find them . If it has the box and papers , I'd think about it .

Also , is it the black one , or the two tone one ? If it's the black one , it would have to be in really good shape for me to consider it .

Here's a pic of mine . one is two tone , the other black . Others have commented on the black finish on these . If it's going to be a carry gun , the black finish will rub off over time .

With current prices for all guns being higher, $550 might be a decent price for a CS40 with 1 mag. As has been mentioned, the magazines are hard to find and generally pretty expensive when you do. If that gun came with at least one more mag, I would consider it to be a good deal.

This is not the best week to be shopping for a good deal on firearms

That is more than I would be willing to pay for a used CS40 with a single magazine.

These two have been converted to CS10s

I have to agree with catcher79, the P239 was the better buy

I am a BIG P239 fan

A few years ago I was considering a P239 just to see what it was like. They were going for about $600.00 at the time, which was a bit more than I wanted to spend.

If I had seen one for $500.00 back then, it would have made it's way to my safe.

I can't comment on the CS40 because I'm not a .40 kind of guy.
