How about it folks? How do you do this at your house. I have a few comments/observation that I'll add later but I want to see how this poll goes first.

Hi Jack, I do but this year im sending less because my bank account was hacked into and all the money from my checking account was pinched by some from india. Im slowly getting some of it back.

Anyway, I normally send out about 20 cards a year, but this year only 6 so far. Im hoping next year-God willing--that I can send some to you Gents here.

PS I usually send out Thomas Kinkade Christmas cards. I flat our refuse to buy any Christmas cards labeled "holiday cards."

ENGLISH! DO YOU SPEAK IT?

Oh, sorry, my head is somewhere else... not that kind of thread... couldn't stop in time... :o

Sorry you got hit by the bad guys. It happened to us a few years back from a bunch from Peru. Got us for over 5K which we were able to recover. If I HAVE to get robbed I'd much rather be robbed by my fellow Americans.

I LOVE Thoman Kinkade's paintings. There is a "Boardwalk" in Kemah with a lot of shops and restaurants and attractions and rides. Kinkade has a gallery there. Each and every painting is remarkable. They also have prints and cards and coffee mugs and plates and clothing etc. I could go through a lot of $$$$ in there very quickly.

And I'm right with ya on the "holiday cards".

Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to all! THERE!

Way back in the day; before interwebs, etc., we used to send cards to all of our relatives and friends that lived out of town.

Then we started getting cards from neighbors and people I worked with!! What's with that? Just tell me Merry Christmas!!

Then the cards got stupidly expensive and postage went up and blah blah blah...............I quit sending cards altogether!

I still get one from an air force colonel I worked with almost 40 years ago..........I just send him an email ..............

Thank you all around. It was a new paypal scam. Ill be posting it later soon as i can think on it.

Ive been buying Kinkades cards for years. The first two boxes I bought had I think 15 dards in each? and the cards-thick well made-same with the envelopes and came with small stickers to secure the envelopes with which had the same scene on them. However, I used to mix the stickers up with other cards with different scenes--just to keep them wondering. :-))

I saw that he passed away earlier this year or late last year. Such a shame as he was just a few years my senior. He had the Nickname of: "Painter of Light" which IMO--fits him like a glove.

Thank you for the nice Christmas wishes and I wish you the very same.

my family sends out christmas cards but mom fills the cards and envelopes out. Of the four of us in my immediate family she has the best hand writing.

I'm glad you said something about handwriting...Mine is atrocious.

So this year, I got out the old trusty "dusty" typewriter. I had to order a new ribbon from a place down in Kansas City...The keys were all gummed up and sticky. So I used some electrical contact cleaner to free up the keys.

So I typed out the addresses on the front (So the postman could read where to send them)...

I got a response back from one fellow, and made the comment that he hadn't received anything written on a good old fashion typewriter in years.

(But at least he could read it) With my hand writing, I should have been a doctor!!!!!!!

I'm somewhat of a Grinch I guess, you won't get a card from me.

Also if you send me one covered with glitter it goes in the trash immediately.

On a more serious note, as LedFowl sort of eluded to, the younger not carrying it on...I hate to say, but my circle of friends has been dying off. Each year I can scratch at least one off.

I send out cards now, even if it is just once a year, to let them know I'm thinking of them, and haven't forgotten them.

Sometimes I wonder if they're doing the same to me, just to see if their card comes back to them, as Un-deliverable

Yes, complete with a Christmas letter giving a synopsis of our year. Nice thing about computers is we can now include pics along with text. I enjoy getting them and finding out what friends and family have been up to. As a matter of fact, my wife is very disappointed when we just get a card with no note -- and we usually write a personal note on each letter. If you don't want to read ours, more power to you.

My wife and I both being born again Christians, it also provides a good channel for a reminder that the birth of our Savior, Jesus, is why we celebrate Christmas to begin with.

I will admit, though, that for one reason or another we don't send nearly the number of cards out that we used to.

This is the first year that I haven't. I've only received two, from my brother aand an aunt. Back 7n the day my mom religiously recorded in a book who we got cards from and who she sent to. Our whole wall would be covered with cards. I guess like thank you notes it is just another nicety that has been lost.

If I may pull a brief hijack on my own thread :D I just gotta jump in here. I have had problems with my penmanship all my life. Harsh criticism from teachers, employers, family and friends. Many years ago I worked in sales for a while and lost a nice promotion because of it.

And for the last few years the arthritis in my hands has added to the problem.

I can read writin' but I can't write readin'

I find it totally ironic that my senior year I had to pick an elective course and all the good ones were full so I wound up getting stuck with typing 101. Of course now this was 1961 Bill Gates was pro'lly still sellin' paint at Sears.

I had to use an old Royal beater with a bad "nN" key. It was a joke. I had to laugh at myself as I thought what in the world am I ever go do with typing skills. I ain't no secretary!

Well, a half a century on I get it. Nobody can read my writing. If I look at something I wrote over an hour ago I can't even read it myself.

I'm not able to have a telephone conversation too much any more 'cause I can't hear so my communication with other is now pretty much down to TYPING. E-mail and a couple of fourms.

I just shows to go ya, as my daddy would say. Ya just don't know what is lyin' just around the corner or what the future will bring.

The Christmas vs Holiday debate is way overblown.

Holiday is derived from Holy-Day, and Christmas is derived from Christ-Mass.

I'm honestly comfortable with both.

Just to make you feel older, Bill Gates was in 3rd grade in 1961:eek:

We used to send Christmas cards and we still say we should get busy and do it again but we never do. Seems like all the people we used to send cards to have died off.

Yes I do, BUT if I send you one for 3 years without getting a return card, you get bounced off the list.

For all you gents who think your handwriting is terrible and the worst ever, think again.

When I was in school, my teachers used to call my handwriting: "Chicken Scratch" and I was forced to rewrite hundreds of assignments through the years.

Personally, I think it was a conspiracy against me." :D :D

Still, in the end--it never improved.
