Hard to tell....I'm in Cali and it's been heavily edited on TV here...there is no BB gun anywhere in the film...they dubbed in that Ralphie wants a "non-gender based toy" for Christmas. The turkey scene was also edited out so as not to offend the Vegans. They did however leave the fishnet leg lamp in for the transvestites...which is nice I guess.

So, with the "offensive" material removed, which I assume would also include Christmas dinner, bullying, etc. Are there enough commercials to fill a 30 min. spot?

Mr. Shepherd also has a cameo in the film. He's the man telling Ralphie where the line to see Santa starts.

Did they also edit out the ending in the Chinese restaurant? After all, that would offend some of the marshmallows out in Fruit and Nut land since it's "racially insensitive".

Jean Shepherd-"Shep" to us devotees-had a nightly program on WOR out of NYC from 1954-1974, that story became a Christmas annual. It was published under the title of "Duel in the Snow, or, Red Ryder nails the Cleveland Street Kid."
One time I took my mother to one of his book signings, she commented that his fans were "8 to 80".

I used to listen to his WOR (710 AM) show with my Dad in the 1960's. Shep was an true gem.

The annual broadcast of the BB gun story around Christmas was one of my favorites.

I'd not listened to his shows in many years. As soon as the opening theme started .....I was flooded with good memories of my youth and those hours spent with my Dad.
