Whatever you do, don't fall for the Frog Lube hype. A lot of the posts about it are made by people working for the company that makes it. It has been shown to increase wear in guns because a gun's surfaces must heat up first and create friction (i.e. wear) before the lube begins to work. Whatever you do, don't use it in an AR-15.
Years ago the message boards were full of people hyping Militec-1 dry lube. Then the Department of Defense tested the product and discovered it was a substandard product. Mind you that Militec-1 was hyping how it was used by the military. Where did all those Militec-1 pushers go?

Cleaning = Ed's Red
Lube = Mobile One 5w-30/ATF

I've been using FROGLUBE for three years, no wear, easy clean up! I'm sold on it. I use it on my AR-10 and 1911's. Great stuff!!! I don't work for FROGLUBE but it works Great for ME!!!

Do you have any link(s) for that testing/data? I have recently started using it on my guns and if it has been shown to increase wear I am sure myself as well as many other users may think twice about its continued use on our guns. I am a new gun owner and do not want to cause any expedited wear on them if I can avoid it?

Hi there,
well I'm using gunbutter on my M&P 22 pistol! Really great stuff and very easy to apply with those "needle" tips they use. No problems with any kind of ammo I feed it and lets itself be cleaned real easy after shooting

Hoppes No 9 solvent and break free CLP for lube have always worked for me, so I see no reason to change.
Ditto that. Won't be going back. Hard to find any negative reviews of FL.
You will for sure miss the smell of Hoppe once you open/spray your parts with that Ballistol
My LGS sells Hoppes scented car air fresheners, that'll solve that problem!
Guess I'm old school but I still use Hoppes for cleaning and lube plus carry a Hoppes silicon treated towel for a quick wipe down.

Read post 46 of this thread (I use FL too) but there are other opinions.
For the Stainless guns, Hoppes #9, Weapon Shield, and Hornady Gun Cleaner & Dry Lube. If it's really gross I'll hose it down with Birchwood Casey Synthetic Gun Scrubber first.
For the Nickle M29, MPro7 Gun Cleaner and Weapon Shield. Harry also gets a coat of Renaissance Wax at the end.

I've always used hoppes cleaner and lube. Clp for quick jobs.
Why does everyone like Hoppes 9 over Hoppes Elite? I like Elite cleaner it dries and dissolves almost like a degreaser taking all the carbon and gunk with it, if it's heavy carbon build up then Elite will foam up and really go to work, it leaves no trace of liquid behind so you have a complete dry surface to apply your favorite lube. I may run some #9 through the bore for heavy build up but the Elite cleaner combined with Hoppes Elite oil or FP10 also make clean up a breeze after you have used it a couple times.
I'm not dissing #9 I've used it for years but once I started using Elite I never looked back give it a shot but realize its a cleaner not a CLP so you will need a good oil because it dissolves everything and then totally dries up within seconds.
For lube I really prefer Shooter Choice FP10 it's thick enough to not dry up after a week of daily carry but not to thick to cause serious build up, it also smells like cinnamon. Hoppes Elite T3 is another one I like as well but there are many good lube choices I don't have a problem using most of them.
For grease I've always had great results with Tetra, my XDs and PF9 loved it.
There are many good cleaners and great lubes but I found the hardest thing to find was a copper remover for the rifling in the barrel, many advertise "Copper Cleaner" but they really don't do any better than the regular gun cleaner for getting copper out so it's a bit of trial and error. I went trhough many copper cleaners before I found Birchwood Casey Bore Scrubber 2 in 1. It is as advertised and will remove copper and it will also remove the brass marks you get on your slide but the down side is it has that horrible smell, good news is I don't use it that often just when my bore gets lots of copper build up or I get brass marks on my slide that I want off.
