Just picked up a 2" 317 today. Pleasantly surprised by the DA trigger pull--much better than I was lead to expect.

What is the finish on the 317? Is it anodized aluminum? Is it coated? What is the best way to clean the outside of the cylinder after firing?

I just read the thread (below) about cleaning titanium cylinders. Bon Ami and Simichrome were suggested. Would these be safe for the 317 finish as well? Would a toothbrush be too harsh for the finish?

Thanks,

Anodized aluminum.

NO toothbrush.

Breakfree CLP.

The finish on these guns is FRAGILE.

I've had good luck waxing them with Renaissance. Dirt just wipes off.

Both the frame and cylinder are anodized aluminum. Like JohnK said, the anodizing is "fragile" - do not use any abrasive cleaners. I use M-Pro 7 gun cleaner. JohnK's suggestion about using a wax after it's clean sounds like a good one. Perhaps Militec-1 metal conditioner would also protect the finish.
