cleaning M&P pro core for the first time

I'm not trying to change you Bkreutz. You shoot a lot more than even most of the guys I know who shoot matches regularly. You know your gun better than any of us. Whatever you're doing, it's working for you and I wouldn't change that.
 
before doing any major take down, try flushing the fire pin block with Gun Scrubber. It's a cleaner not a lube. Don't forget to relube any thing wet by this stuff. The pin will be dry and clean.

I didn't think you were trying to change me, my wife gave up on that decades ago:D. This is one of the problems with forums, can't always get a read on the other person. Everything is good. Just trying to show that the M&P isn't fragile by any stretch of the imagination.
