I remember reading somewhere, maybe on here, that there is some type of cloth covering over a spring in the frame to cut down on vibration. Would since cleaning an M&P be a good idea? There's a video on YouTube showing a gun sonic cleaning an M&P 1.0 and then rinsing it off with a hose before sonic lubing it. Anybody here Sonic clean an M&P?

I have been working on my own Smiths for for 4+ decades now and have never encountered, seen or heard of any cloth covered springs or suggestions to do so.

To me it sounds like a sure fired way to jam up an otherwise perfectly functioning gun! Forget about just guns...... springs move in any mechanical devise I could not imagine anyone else making suggestions to do that on moving parts such as springs. This is a new one for me! lol

Going on memory, there was something in at least the earlier S&W M&P that could be damaged by cleaning solvent, not just ultrasonic.

I seem to recall it was something on or near the firing pin/striker.
