Cleaning out the Garage so I can Park a car in it!

Just getting stuff I no longer use and stuff I no longer need. How about 11 Mec presses. More than 4000 once fired REAL AA 12 ga empties..1500 20ga AAs and a whole lot of Rem RXP 20s once fired. But some of the brass I have found is astounding. Calibers I've never even had a firearm for. Run the gamut from 25-20 SS 32 Short 38 Short Colt 38 LC 41 LC some Rem 38-44 44 Russian 44 Spec Balloon head cases and many more. 17 boxes of fireformed 7mm Ackley Improved Mauser?? And from days gone by when they didn't make 22-250 I have some brass made for the Varminters I had. Some is 250 Sav some 300 Sav. but most I made from Military 30-06 because I had the brass. About 300 cases primed with the old round bottom primers by Win. I guess I am a kinda shooting/reloading Hoarder. Also have a 150 partial boxes of factory ammo. Metallic presses dies and all kinds of old unseen and unknown reloading stuff. I even found a Herter's Model 9 2 hole H press(essentially a Dunbar Glass Works press) have a CH Mark IV progressive press. It's time to get rid of the stuff. . All this stuff is going to an auction. AND I'll bet I'm not the only one overburdened with old Classic unused stuff on this site!! Or am I alone??

I did nowhere near the shotgun shooting you did and have 7 MEC Presses! (Only one in 20-gauge and sold the 16-gauge 600 JR years ago!)

I got rid of 3000 AA HS 410 3" last fall. Kept the AA HS; zero 12-gauge, 4000 20-Gauge, 5000 28-Gauge, and 3000 410 bore 2.5" (If I never shoot another 12=gauge again That will be just fine, but I still have Seven 12-Gauge guns!)

So no! you aren't the only one.

Even the average reloader ends up with more gear than they realize
The last time I moved I had a full size pick up full of safe , guns ammo and reloading gear
I did get rid of the casting lead though

My little bit of reloading equipment does not take up that much space so its in the basement part of downstairs. One Dillon, now down to one Mec 600jr (12G) and I single stage press for rifle rounds..

23 years ago I moved into an old farmhouse and began to remodel as time and money allowed. At the time there was no garage, we wanted one but there was that cash thing. My wife and I noted how many houses had nice garage but never had cars parked inside because the garage is were too full of stuff. We both agreed that once we owned a garage that would never ever be us. About 7 years ago we added a garage and so far we have lived up to that promise In a way I wish we had done it sooner, would have been nice to have a garage to park in when the kid was in a car seat

Now days newer homes have 3 or 4 stall garages so homeowner can park one or two vehicles.

If I get the grudge cleaned out I have the vault to do also. Have a 12 x33 room down in the basement full of stuff also. The house was previously owned by a LDS family and that was the room they kept their food hoarded in. They had 10 or 11 kids. Don't have too maaaany guns down there but 3 P-W 800 reloaders 2 Spolar machines and lotsa littles. I need to buy a decent rifle in 243. Have 31 boxes of ammo.. 17 boxes of 22 Hornet...but do have a couple of rifles for that. Out in the garage I have stored 33 cases or so of 20,28 and 410 ammo. Real cases. About half are my reloads. Good ones though. I did run hundreds with them. I don't know how I have accumulated all this stuff. It's got to go. I even found my old 600 Mec 10 ga machine. Thought I had gotten rid of it. Anybody need an Ithaca !0 ga semi auto? LOL I'm glad I'm not the only person here that "collects" reloading stuff.

been cleaning out the garage and shed for weeks. have almost everything sorted in boxes and wife's shoe boxes, w/ tags. so easy to locate when i want something. just have to restock the shelves. have a RCBS single stage, maybe 50+ years old. have dies to reload the 223 cal. have to purchase powder/ cases/ primers & accessories when the prices level out. enforced a work table for the press. i seal off 1/2 the garage w/ plastic when the temp. drops, a man cave when a project comes up during winter.

In our previous house we had a two car garage with a truck and a car in it 12 months a year. We also had a 32x60 shop. That shop is the one thing I miss about that house.

In our place back east we had an outbuilding that we called the pump house. Well was in there as well as a cold room where we hung our eating critters. The other end of the building was my Gun shop and reloading area. I do miss that. I have plenty of reloading areas as long as I keep the extras away

In a previous life I managed to squeeze two cars in my 3 car garage with one more in the drive and two parked on the street lol

That was my first thought, too. Who parks cars in garages these days? Many municipalities' building codes require a double garage now, but the driveway is usually cluttered with cars because the garage is full of "stuff"!

When I first met my gf she was parking her $40k Lexus in the driveway because $100 worth of useless junk was in her garage...
That scenario changed quickly.

Hi Dave... After posting this thread...you are #11 on the list for the 25-20 SS brass. I didn't know so many shooters had a need for it. Maybe a contract with Starline to make a 1/4 million or so!

I realize I'm in a minority here, but I learned many years ago that if I couldn't easily park two cars in a two car garage, I had too much junk - and that's truly what most of it was: junk. I've attempted to lighten the load since.

Many apparently don't see their stuff as junk, but look at other cluttered, overstuffed garages. A lot of the items aren't worth having if you assess their usefulness. I come from a family that could usually get one car in a two car garage, but seldom was their room for two cars.

I've herd rumors of people putting cars in garages. Never seen it done. I guess Joey Chitwood might flip one up on edge and wedge it in my garage.
