I have a .40 fs and my girlfriend has the 9 mm jg. And I get the honor of cleaning both after our range time. We have put enough rounds through each of them to work past the "gritty" trigger issue. That being said, whenever I clean either one the trigger gets that gritty feel again. It goes away after shooting a mag or two but it makes me think perhaps I'm getting some of the residue down inside somewhere that I shouldn't. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Anyone else have this happen? I am very new to auto pistols so it could very well be improper cleaning.

One idea is to "dry" wipe the gun down after you remove the barrel. This removes much of the residue before you put the cleaner in it. Just putting cleaner in it sort of makes residue mud. Then put cleaner on a Q-tip and work the rails and other crevices. The main work is in the barrel. There are some helpful Youtube videos on the subject of cleaning.

I remove the grips and blast the whole thing with non residue brake parts cleaner. rubber gloves and eye protection. Put the little red tube everywhere, rotating the gun all around while spraying.

Agree with other two. Spray good with CLP, and do some dryfiring prior to you're range visit. Another helpful hint: show you're girlfriend how to clean!

Will the non-chlorinated brake cleaner remove all the oil like polysafe gun scrubber will?
