Close range sight

I have a 4-16x scope mounted on my 15-22 which works great for shots at a decent range but what about close shots? I am looking for a way to be able to shoot closer and am thinking of maybe a red dot or a laser. What is the opinion of the experts here?

Depending on what type of close type of shooting you are doing. Target shooting or Varmint snipering I'd use iron sights to about 40 yards. If you were looking for a defensive type like Close Quarters Combat, or CQB I'd say Red Dot. Red Dots in general are not made for precision shooting. So depending how close you want to shoot depends which sight you will use.

You can add red dot with 1 o'clock offset mount.

I was thinking of a red dot and may still do it but was also thinking of a green lazer might be a better way to go. I have never shot with a lazer and was thinking in close quarters and out to 20' it would be easier and quicker to just point from the hip.

im looking in to the airsoft version cause the real ones are around $200+ which in my eyes is ridiculous for any iron sight that's not even a night sight

Botach Tactical- look for ARMS 71 flip up sights.
They are better than the Magpul sight. Easier to deploy. And, the price is fantastic.

DAMN wish I would have seen this before I ordered the mapul PTS MBUS ones. I will keep this info. bookmarked so if I can return the magpul ones I will order the ARMS BUS's.

Magpul has been proven. I can't really speak for Botach as I haven't owned any. I would trust Magpul for sure though as I know they are super accurate. I would never sell my Magpuls.

Well, after searching out BUIS, for years now..... I have seen what works, and what is easy to work with.
Now, this said, I am partial to the original Troy battle sights. But for flip ups, I found several to be really good, but really pricey.
Then, I came across these ARMS 71 units. The bodies are sintered aluminum in polymer (A bit better heat diffusion and resistance). And, the action is far better than the Magpul. As you can see in the pic; that big 'ole thumb button release is a positive unit. It locks in place, and STAYS locked. When it comes time to flip open the sight, you use your thumb, finger, whatever..... and you drop it instantly. Even with thick gloves on. The peep sight window is easier to manipulate than the Magpul, and has a better feel to it. (I personally do not like the way the Magpul 200yd. oracle 'snaps' into the 50 yard ring.) The ARMS sight is better in this respect. The front sight is easy to see, and easy to acquire targets with. Easier than the Magpul unit.
And, they cost less to boot.

Here is the setup I run on my SPR. I have an ACOG with an insight reflex red dot on an off canted mount. I've used this rifle hog hunting with no problems switching from ACOG to red dot.

For real close in, just aim down the barrel. No sights, nothing to loose or break. It's always there and with very little practice you will hit a 2" target all day long at 30'.

Wricksta your setup looks like one of the options I had in mind. Still on the fence on which way to go.

I have a Vortex Strikefire that works fine up close but I'm think about going to a Primary Arms Micro Dot because it's narrower and "cleaner". If you want something for near to a little farther a 1-4x or 1.25-4x with a red dot or inverted horseshoe would tackle most things a .22lr is good for. JMO....
