Closet space when you’re married.

When My live in GF of 20 years started filling My closet I moved the stuff to Her closet. Then came the argument of who had too much stuff. Not being married has it's advantages and She promptly was told that either her overstock of clothes leave or they all leave with Her. We actually parted a few times so the common law in CO wouldn't kick in. Plus She had a lot more funds than I did. I thought You might have learned from the previous two to get the rules down first. One of the first things I did after we moved in was lower the shelves and clothes rod in our bedroom closet as Ruthie is 4'10".

When we moved into our house in small town West Virginia, we found that the closets were kinda small.
My wife needed some kind of closet space so I set up a 24 foot clothes rod in our attic. The whole attic basically became her walk in closet.

The way my house is configured we have two bedrooms and a den/office that could be made into a albeit small but functional bedroom.

Its only the two of us so she uses the spare bedroom closet as hers excursively and I use the closet in the main one.

Admittedly she has much more stuff that I do. I will not even get into all the clothes and other items (AKA junk) she has downstairs in the basement in order to be well dressed at the many Red Hat Society events she goes to.


So far its working out OK.

Long time since I have heard of the red hat society. Seems like ladies just come up with reasons to get more clothes. My wife went crazy with the Zumba exercise outfits. Had to have all matching and god forbid you wear the same thing twice!

My workout clothes are an old pair of shorts and any ratty t-shirt that happens to be around. I walk to the basement get on the treadmill or hit the nautilus type gym setup I have. It is not a fashion show.

My wife's closet is 18x 4 feet. Plus she has a Walnut wardrobe my GGrandfather made...and sh has achest of drawers for the frilly things...and at the end of the bed she has an old chest 6x2 ft with the extra stuff. I really don't care. She buys most of her clothes ar Goodwill and quite often ar yard sales Last weekend she got a new pair of Eddie bauer corduroy pants with the tags still on 'em for 3 dollars

It's all I really needed.
The deal was, she can have the whole attic, the basement and most of the closet space but the garage was all mine.
