Was fortunate to pick up another 1911 from the CMP a couple weeks ago. She’s a Remington Rand frame and slide and mostly REM RAND parts. Does have a Springfield interwar replacement barrel (1919-1933) on it which is pretty cool.

I’m super pleased with this field grade as it’s just a crapshoot as to what you’re going to get and condition.

That is a really fine example, still has the Blanchard mill marks and the acceptance stamp is strong. May have been refinished but not blasted and it could still have its original finish, I can’t say on the finish but that is a great looking pistol. I would be super pleased with that one also..

There have been a few recently that folks received that were all original. If you’re on Facebook there’s a good 1911A1 page where folks post these as they receive them. They’re allowing 2 per person now. You got a good one.

Another nice Field Grade. I should be contacted in the next week or two, I’m definitely asking for a Field Grade.

The last complete Remington Rand I handled was in the mid-70s, when Mr. Ed Sumner, deceased since 2017, brought his father's (Charley Sumner - died 1992) U.S. Army-marked 1911A1 brought back from WWII. It needed a stock bushing, which I ordered and installed. That old warhorse was then good as ever!

Thank for the memories of two good men from my younger days.

What is/was a Blanchard Mill ?

You did very well.

I spent time as the Unit Armorer in the HQ of a FA Battery. We were transitioning from 1911A1s to M9s and had five, consecutive serial number Remington Rands in inventory. I tried every legal way I could think of to make those mine. I'd have happily reported them lost and paid the book value but the Commander would have none of that. Broke my heart because I'm sure once they were traded in they were eventually scrapped.

Later one, 1945 I would estimate. Both of my CMP guns are Remington Rands. First was a 1945 service grade, complete rebuild with Israeli slide. My second is a field, 1944, as best I can tell all original. Condition matches yours completely, including the rack numbers on the grips. Mine is number 12.

Thats a beautiful Remington Rand. I have a soft spot for the Blanchard ground slides. The CMP has been putting out some nice RR's lately, it looks a lot like mine.
I got an original finish, matching frame/slide 1944 Remington Rand earlier this month. Just needed a new H.S. barrel to replace the pitted Colt barrel that was in it, and a new slide stop to be 100% correct.

From what Ive read/heard theres alot of them and M-1 garands in South Korea in a warehouse that were never brought back..the article was in a gun magazine a few years ago

Very nice field grade even with a later barrel. Is that from the a recent application or one from before they stopped the program in 4th round?

I need to get another app in to get my second one if it's still open. first one was a nice service grade RR with a Colt slide.

That’s a nice example. I just got one that I waited a year and a half for. No where near as nice. ANAD Refinished colt frame and replacement slide. Two different finishes.
