Shooting Spree at Colorado Movie Theater

Police: 14 dead in Colorado theater shooting - Yahoo! News

Obviously, this is a tremendous tragedy. A sold-out movie theater near Denver, CO created an ideal target for some lunatic bent on killing as many innocent people as possible. 14 dead and 50 injured as of the most recent information...

Colorado being the gun-friendly state that it is, one can't help but wonder if anyone in the theater itself or building had a concealed handgun.

If a concealed weapon could have been successfully employed here, how many lives might have been spared?

There was a mass shooting overnight in CO at a movie theater. Apparently 14 dead, alot of them kids / teens. This wack job obviously prepared for this one with smoke bombs and other nasty surprises. It didn't take long for the talking heads to start speculating and going right for this guy's guns and the usual of how did he get them and where.

This guy wanted to be a character in the movie it seems. Sad...Sad...Sad.

I suspect there will be calls for more gun control. Fortunately, with the election coming in 3 months there will be some who do not want an anti gun vote on their record right now.

This nut job had a lot of various nasty things. They are searching his car and apartment as I write this. 15 people dead, some of them children. So sad.

Latest news 12 dead (not 15), but 50 people shot. Geeze!

We need more geek control, this guy is more than likely going to turn out to be some role playing loser such as you have at Comic-Con and the like.

I also fear that the gun control folks, who know absolutely nothing about firearms, will come out of the woodwork. You can control all you want and these kind of idiots will still wreak their mayhem.

This situation is sad beyond words and my heart goes out to the victims, as well as their families & friends.

This event is horrible and I feel for those injured and for the families of those killed. This person obviously had intent and thought this through.

Keep in mind that my comments are cynical , and not meant to be funny. Regal theatres have a no-gun policy. I guess that's why he used the fire exit.

And despite what happened , a crowded and panicing theatre is not the best place to be throwing shots , even in self defense. I doubt there would be a clear line of fire. Flight would be the better option than standing and waiting for a clear shot. Besides , pull a pistol in that mass panic and another armed patron might take YOU out.

He's 24. Probably never had a girlfriend and has a living room full of "shooter" video games. I guess mom didn't like him enough. Just my speculation.

John Lott's research suggests that most ( maybe all ) mass shootings both in the U.S. and internationally occur in gun free zones.

Killers like this are evil not stupid.

Gun free zone huh? Hows that workin out for ya? They can try all they want and ban guns. It will work about as well as the "gun free" zones. Here in NC, you cannot legally carry (unless LEO) at anywhere tickets are sold. Mexico and Northern Ireland have very restrictive gun laws. Then again, practically every household in Switzerland has at least one gun, a military rifle. The corelation between availablity of guns and shootings is nowhere near 100%.

If restrictive gun laws prevent shootings than obviously Chicago doesn't have a gun problem.

The anti-gun leftwing has already rose it's ugly head here. An online forum in this area has them blaiming the right, their money and the NRA for making these weapons so "available". One mental midget actually stated that he's most likely a Romney supporter...I wouldnt be surprised to hear the lame-stream media pounce on this and I'm sure our fearless leader will have words of wisdom for us. Just a really sad day for all involved.

Terrible tragedy.

I never could understand how anyone could harm innocent adults.......but children....CHILDREN????

The human mind is a dark and dangerous place sometimes.

Off work today......weather has cooled off.....wake for a nice pleasent day and turn on the TV to this.
I'm watching Fox news as I sit here.

On another note....
Although I was never planning on seeing this movie at the theater, I did tell myself only days ago that I cannot wait until it comes out on TV/DVD. Now I'll never be able to see this movie and enjoy it with out this terrible stigma attached to it.
