Cold alert!

Personally though... I enjoy the cold. Walks up in the woods on a frigid day.. crunching through the frozen snow.. can't beat that!

Ahhh, a man after my own heart(except that my disability prevents those walks in the woods anymore).

I'm sure middle Tennessee isn't the only area getting hit with super cold temperatures. We haven't even been making the normal low for our daily high. And it's supposed to get worse this weekend, and last into next week. Also some snow on the way. We've been getting down to near single digits at night, and low 20s in the day. This is dangerously cold. There have already been a couple deaths due to the cold, and also some pets that froze to death after being left outside all night with just an uninsulated doghouse. I'd like to ask everyone to check on any elderly relatives or neighbors to make sure they are ok, and that their furnace filters are clean and the water lines are ok. If they are in need of groceries or medicine, do a good deed and go get it for them, so they don't have to get out in the cold. Space heaters can be very dangerous, and there have been a number of house fires on the news caused by space heaters. Also, please, please bring your pets inside during severe cold. If that's not possible, make sure they have plenty of insulation and/or straw or blankets in their house, as well as a flap over the door opening. Position the door away from the previaling wind. Check on them often. A little common sense and thoughtfulness can save a life. I hope everyone is keeping warm, and if you have any excess heat, please send some to Nashville!

:) Hang in there Misty we are going to make it!! Don

Problem is, you and Misty get all the snow, and I NEVER see it here, even though I'm only about 150 miles or less south of y'all. We ain't seen snow in years here, at least not measuable. Since I'm on salary, I hope it snows knee deep to a giraffe's behind at the end of the week.

We actually don't see much here either. The snow I can take. It's the cold that goes with it that I hate! People think I should be used to it, coming from Michigan. Cold is something I'll never get used to! I've actually had these thoughts going through my head lately, of selling the house and moving to Arizona. I envy you PALADIN85020!:)

I'm located in the SW mountains of NC - 2800' here and 6,500 a hike from here out the back. forecast is for possible record cold for date this weekend. and breezy/snow on top of ice already here since before Christmas.

I've got Michigan blood too, Misty. Born in Detroit where my mother was raised. My blood isn't thick enough either, though, apparently. I can't stand bitter cold either!

It is a warm 11 degrees in southern KY right now, calling for a high of 10 with a low of 0 on Saturday, with lots of snow to come on thursday and friday...bring it on!

As luck would have it we replaced the windows a year ago this past December. During this past summer I replaced the twin basement door set with a new door set and frame work. I'd say these changes have made a major difference. Our heating oil dealer made a delivery just before Christmas. The total delivery was (50) Gal and that the first delivery since April of 2009.

This winter hasn't been as mild as others but on the other hand I've experienced much worse. If it's economically feasible help others. I've paid for deliveries to some let say neighbors. The heating oil dealer lets me know who is truly in need.

20 years ago I got fed up with the cold and moved farther south than Arizona. The only problem is, sometimes the cold can reach you here too. AND...there is no such thing as heat in the stone and brick central Mexican houses. So it's miserable.

It is miserable HERE right now. It froze the last couple of nights and it's MAYBE a balmy 50 degrees out there now, although I doubt it. It is cloudy and COLD. It wouldn't suck so much if a person could go somewhere WARM, but the society isn't built for it -- in fact, quite the opposite. Those Mexican ponchos aren't just for looking cool in the Spagetti Westerns you know.

I thought Al Gore said I'd be warmer than this.

I've lived here coming up on 50 years and never saw it so cold. I have no idea how to handle it.

I tried to shoot trap today and couldn't hit anything. Cold air, cold wind, gotta go to the potty every 15 minutes...

I can't imagine living "up north."

But, next week, for the Dixie Grand Trapshoot, it'll be at least in the high 60s. :D

Bob

It is so cold here the democrats have their hands in their own pockets!
