First off, I recognize that any comparisons are highly subjective. We each bring our own set of biases to the table and judge things through those biases. That said, we all have something valid to bring to the discussion. So I value all the view points given but reserve the right to respectfully disagree. Disclaimers out of the way, give me your opinions and observations.

Two of the major players in the gun pouch industry are Kramer and Milt Sparks. I own examples of both. But I don’t own examples of both that can be compared apples to apples.

My question is about specific holsters that are very similar by each maker. Please compare the Sparks 55BN to the Kramer Belt Slide. They are similar in appearance. Both can be had in horse hide. But what are the subtle nuances that set them apart or make one just slightly better than the other? For the sake of comparison, let say using either of them for a Commander sized 1911. Which is your favorite and why? School me in the two holsters so I can make an informed decision on which might be better for me. Thank you kindly.

In their picture, the Kramer example you questioned, doesn't appear to have the metal reinforced mouth.

For me, I must have the "reinforced mouth" for easier re-holstering.

EDIT: Also the Sparks example has a belt tunnel. I'm thinking the Sparks would draw easier, but not ride as tight as the Kramer example.

In my experience, you have to test drive any holster for a few weeks to find what works best for the individual.

Here's one of my experiences with a test drive...

I purchased this Mitch Rosen for my SIG P320.

I found the lack of forward tilt, height and the metal clip (dug into my belt) simply drove me crazy. And I've worn IWB holsters for ~40 years.

I'm still learning and making mistakes! LOL
