I'm looking for instrucion to completly dis-assemble a S&W 41. All I can find are links to field strip this model. I want to strip it down to the frame. I have the ability and tools to tear down all of my toys but have never done a 41. I wanted to see first if there were any printed instruction to be found before diving into this blind. I even bought 4 books that said they coverd the 41...they did...field striping and history. Just to answer the obvious question before it is asked...yes it needs to be striped down. The gun literally has fired 250,000+ rounds. In the past I have sprayed brake cleaner inside, blew off with air, oiled and started shooting again. Life came along and the gun sat for years. Now the inside is all gunked up, sticky and really needs TLC. Thanks

I doubt you will find a complete disassembly guide short of an S&W shop manual, if such exists. A 41 is pretty simple inside. Take some closeup pics with a digital camera before you start if that would help. Use the proper punches and a back-up block and drive out all the pins in a logical manner, watching for springs, etc. That's all I did and I didn't have any particular problems breaking down or building up.

Thanks for your responce. I think I will use this lack of info to create a detailed referance document on this subject. I think everyone should be able to fully disassemble, clean and maintain all of their guns regaurdless of the complexity of the firearm.
Thanks again.
