Confusión with a 64-2

Just bought a used 64 with round butt. What I don't understand is that the s/n on the frame is a AFA prefix and four digit number.If I'm correct that s/n is from the transition years 1980-1983.But in the crane is stamp Mod 64-2.
Isn't dash 2 from 1977?

The serial number prefix appears to be from November, 1984 and the model 64-2 was made from 1977 until it was replaced by the 64-4 in 1988. So all is well.

My 64-2 has serial # prefix 30D, and was made in 1983.
