Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding gun control initiatives in the wake of the recent shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. I value your opinion and appreciate hearing from you on this matter.
No words can describe this unspeakable tragedy. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and friends of those who lost loved ones in Sandy Hook.
In the days ahead, the American public and elected officials will examine all of the factors that played a role in this event, and others like it. As this conversation unfolds, let me state clearly that I will continue to stand up for the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. Furthermore, please know that I am strongly opposed to President Obama's implementation of numerous gun control initiatives through executive order. This is just another example of the president attempting to bypass the Congress and the Constitution in order to implement his extreme agenda.
