What would it take to convert a 915 to DAO. I prefer a consistent trigger pull as opposed to the traditional DA auto transition from DA to SA. I'm not a real fan of the 5946 style, plus I've got a 915 already.

I note the DAO hammer in your conversion has the 6946 style. Does the conversion bring with it the single strike issue that's inherent on the factory DAO's?

I was hoping that it would be as easy as grinding off the cocked notch on the hammer. I was afraid that approach would defeat some disconnector in the gun and it would chain fire. I've seen some 3914's converted to DAO for some PD out east. They retained the same no spur hammer as a traditional DA/SA 3914 and retained the 2nd strike capability. They were rollmarked DAO but I don't know if it was done at the factory. Thanks again for taking the time to explain the process to me. I'll have to give it some thought.

You are referring to the 3914DAO. Yes it was made for a big (very big) east coast PD. Yes it was done by the factory. It is second strike capable and the trigger feels very similar to that in the 5946, maybe just a little bit heavier. The product code on the box for mine is 103922. I got mine in 2007. As far as I know they are still making them at the Houlton factory on a limited basis.
